Also, it seems fishy that Toto, the team principal for one team, can also be the manager for a driver. Something doesn't seem right about that.
It's hard to tell imo. Guessing he will go with whoever offers the most $$$ among RB, Merc, or Ferrari. The reason is because 2021 is going to be a bit of a reset due to the new car and financial rules.
You talking about Ocon? I thought he was just mentoring him in some sort of way rather than being his actual manager.
Didn't Ocon have some sort of test driver-type relationship with Merc? Or started in their junior program?
I took it as him being his manager. They even showed where Ocon and Toto were riding in a car together and Toto was scheduling a lunch with Cyril, clearly meant to discuss Ocon. Just seems sketchy to me.
I haven't watched the show yet, but weren't he and Bottas both considered for the #2 seat? That seems straightforward.
Just about everyone is a free agent. Seb, Lewis, Max add in the strong possibility of Alonso returning to the grid. I’m all in on major shakeups.
I'm going to give F1 fantasy a try this year. You start with $130 million and have to choose five drivers (one you choose to receive double points) and one constructor.
I agree and it’s why I thought they did Hulkenberg so dirty in that process. The show made it seem like he was his manager. Set up the meeting to get Ocon his ride Yes, he is part of the Mercedes junior program and thought of a highly regarded prospect. It’s why Toto is his manager and guiding his career.
I’d bet the race will end up getting cancelled. The St.Pete GP just closed general admission to the race and I bet that’ll be cancelled soon too.
Ross Brawn said that if a team dropped out that the race wouldn't count towards the championship. Once McLaren dropped out the race was doomed.
Saw where Stroll went ahead and ran the race yesterday via the F1 video game and live streamed it on twitch. Think that would be pretty cool to see the actual drivers screwing around like that.
There's quite a few videos out there over the last couple years of guys like Lando, Max, etc... doing that
REALLY enjoy the Netflix series and was looking forward to kinda getting in to F1 this year. Didn't realize the drivers on the same teams basically hated one another and there is way more drama than I would have expected. Wish they would've focused on Hamilton a little more since he was the most well known to me at least. Maybe he's a boring person. Really liked Hulkenburg and LeCleric seems to be pretty good.
mclaren drivers are basically bff but yeah if your teammate beats you every week then they’re going to find someone else since you have the same car
BIL's company manages all the hospitality for F1 globally. I wasn't going to be able to go to Amsterdam or Vietnam for the races, but might be able to now they are pushed to this fall.
We all thought the 2020-2021 off-season would be one of the craziest periods in a long time with driver contracts, rules changes, the schedule. Little did we know the 2020 season would trump it easily.
F1 2019 is free for 30 days on Xbox and Playstation. I've played a lot of 2018 and never saw a reason to buy the next one. Has anyone tried both?
They go a bit more in depth on the career mode in 2019. You have rivals you compete with from GP2 as well as the traditional guys on the grid now. If you like a little more storyline and career mode its worth the upgrade to go along with better graphics.
I didn't know there were still people out there who thought all the teams give equal cars to their drivers...
Slightly OT (and if we have stuff on the board already you can refer me to, that's awesome): does anyone have a setup for F1 video games? What console/equipment/game do you use? I'm not super pick about this, but my kids are at the point where this might be fun for them. I don't have a wheel or anything like that anymore, but am open to any options. Thoughts?
My friend literally just got his logitech wheel yesterday. I believe he got the logitech g920 that for now sits on his kitchen room table. For the first night he was almost always in last, but said it was a lot of fun. We were pretty much dead even while both using a controller, so I'm just waiting for him to eventually be faster than I.
I know Europe was ahead of us in infection/spread/etc, but I have a hard time believing they are going to put hundreds in a factory and hundreds of mechanics/engineers traveling every week to a race by July.
Spectator free, which is odd because the economics of the races is so reliant on spectator revenue. They must be subsidized by the FIA/TV $.
