For the "it's too volatile" crowd:

Ok I’ll play. Why is btc a scam?

    Capitalism itself is a scam

Well that’s not much of a response when we’re basically talking about an item’s properties as money.

Is gold a scam? Is silver a scam?

The S&P isn’t money and those tweets compared it to BTC, so is BTC currency or is it akin to a stock

You’re all over the place. Btc is plainly not a stock. It’s a currency and store of value, much like gold.

Those tweets compared it to the s&p presumably because people shout about volatility all the time. But that’s an assumption since they aren’t my tweets.

The more honest comparison would be contrasting the fluctuation of the USD to BTC for an apples to apples comparison then IMO.

I own some BTC albeit a very small amount. I’m in no rush to spend it on some pizza because I hope that one day it will worth more (whereas my USD will probably be worth less). I think we could say that’s a bad marker of currency in a capitalist economy which requires a constant flow of money.

I think it's unreasonable for a brand new currency to be expected to just jump to the final stage of money. People much smarter than me have discussed this. Here's one of them:

Agreed I don't share his "wow" reaction. A "digital" dollar doesn't really move the needle much anyways imo. I don't see them ever completely phasing out cash, but could be wrong on that. Otherwise, "digital" dollars are no different than what we move through bank accounts already.

Yeah kinda was confused what exactly he meant other than applying blockchain to every USD transaction which...is quite Galaxy brained imo

He’s a gold/silver guy from the 5 seconds of research I did, but ok. I wouldn’t call out my own post if I gave a shit about what he said.

If you think I’m making investment decisions based on some random I don’t know off twitter, then ok to that as well.

sooner or later you’ll realize I don’t really give a shit what you think on this. You have this incessant need to want to get in back and forths with me on it.

Your position has not changed and is not informed by much of any substance. You think it’s worthless and will ultimately fail. Ok. Or you think it could rival gold? Ok. I guess I’m not really sure where you fall. But if it’s the latter, then your position is a bit baffling.

And is this really the moment in time when you want to defend central banking and fiat currencies? As the fed is just moving decimal places around to print trillions of dollars and debase the US dollar? More power to you if that’s the kind of asset you want to hold long term.

I think crypto as a whole has a future. I don't pretend to read the future to know which one will actually be the one to go mainstream. I've been very consistent with that take.

The market doesn’t get multiple chances to create a global currency or a digitally scarce asset. It’s a one time event that requires massive network effects for miners, traders, speculators, etc.

If you had any interest in reading about your surface level position, there are countless articles, books, and podcasts on it.

dblplay1212 anyone who uses the term fiat currency follows 1,000 bitcoin shills on Twitter. The echo chamber there is worse than the Fox News echo chamber for conservatives or the Twitter echo chamber for liberals

just a bunch of people telling each other what they want to hear

meanwhile bitcoin is down 75% from its all time high

Oooo I love arbitrary time frames. Quick tell the thread the world’s best performing asset the last 10 years. Go back 3 years. Go back 5 years. The math is really fun.

I can’t believe they let you change your username after pimping a “coin” that is essentially worthless to the entire board

you should have to live with that shame

I’ve addressed this probably 10 times. I bought a handful of random alt coins in 2017. That was one of them. I liked its value proposition. There are countless stories of people initially getting into crypto and doing the same before solely owning btc.

if that’s your response to everything, then cool I guess. I’d expect more from someone who gets paid to advocate for a living.

You made a point about btc’s performance over an arbitrary time frame. I responded. And your response is what exactly? That I bought something that lost money once before? My 401k is down too. I once owned xrp with an average buy below like 30 cents and sold out at something like 2.60. Doesn’t make me smart.

Guys like user15000 remind me of the hardcore Bernie bros. They see his ideas, know they are great, and just assume everyone else will agree. When people don't vote for Bernie, they are legit stumped. They just can't grasp that someone doesn't see the world as they do. They get mad. Everyone that doesn't vote for Bernie is uneducated.

    *I voted for Bernie yesterday

Explain why the 1000s of coins that have come after it make up less than like 37% of the entire global market cap.
Explain why bitcoin cash, bitcoin sv, bitcoin gold, and the countless other copycats have failed, assuming you even know what those are.

You were just as bullish on factom as you are now btc. If you can't grasp why people laugh at you, that's on you.

Guys here’s the bottom line: btc doesn’t give a shit if either of you ever buy any of it. It’ll just continue its protocol every 10 minutes while being the scarcest asset on the planet. It doesn’t need a fed trillion dollar bailout, or circuit breakers, or government intervention.

I have made my bet and have skin in the game. Short it if it’s a Ponzi scheme or bullshit. If not, your opinion is pretty worthless with no skin in the game.
