No but read this about him which makes him the perfect Quinn Patricia guy. He’ll probably be our CB2 if signed. A key reserve and special teamer the past four years in Denver, Parks is known for his versatility on defense. He spent extensive time at both safety and nickel back in 2019. Parks is ultimately just a role player but being able to play multiple positions never goes out of style on the open market.
This is actually a pretty good contract for us, I think. Essentially, he's got a cap hit of $5.4M for next year, a $10.4M cap hit for 2021, and then if he sucks we can get out of it for a cap hit of $4.2M before year 3. As far as bigger money deals go, there's not a ton of downside there if he busts.
Daniel's deal is also very cheap this year. Cap hit of $2M for 2020, I believe. Cap hit would be around $5M in 2021.
We should still have money to make at least one big FA move, possibly two. If we trade Slay, we've got somewhere around $40M still in cap space, although at least $10-12M a that probably has to go to draft picks. We're also likely going to need to keep $10-15M of that back if we wanted to lock up Golladay and/or Decker to extensions before they hit FA next year.
I doubt it. After giving Flowers $90M or whatever last year, I can't see us doubling down with another $90-100M one year later.
Damn that would be awesome to land a big fish. This is very disappointing they aren’t going for home runs with all the cap space we have. They need to win now
Current depth chart, as far as I can tell: QB - Stafford, Daniel, Blough RB - K. Johnson, Scarbrough, T. Johnson, Carson, Bawden (FB) WR - Golladay, Jones, Fulgham, Lacy SL - Amendola, Hall TE - Hockenson, James, Nauta T - Decker, Vaitai, Crosby, Skipper G - Dahl, Benenoch, Benzshawel, Garnett C - Ragnow DE - Flowers NT - Shelton, Atkins, Sagapolu DT - Hand, Williams OLB/DE - Okwara, Bryant LB - Tavai, Collins, Davis, Jones, Reeves-Maybin, Longa CB - Slay, Oruwariye, Coleman, Ford, Agnew S - Walker, Harris, Moore K/P/LS - Prater, ???, Muhlbach
I'm not sure how many home runs were out there. Seemed like there were more guys franchised this year than most years, but maybe I'm wrong on that. With Clowney, specifically, I'd be curious what kind of deal he gets without teams being able to fly him in for medicals. He's got a lot of past baggage there with his knee for someone who people are projecting to get $20M per year.
Starting spots I feel good about: QB (Stafford) WR1 (Golladay) WR2 (Jones) SL (Amendola) TE (Hockenson) LT (Decker) C (Ragnow) DE (Flowers) NT (Shelton) OLB (Collins) MLB (Tavai) S (Walker) That's probably being kind in terms of NT and MLB, but Shelton is a proven guy there on early downs and I'm a believer in Tavai. Defense needs impact draft picks at CB and DL. Also badly needs significant development/health from Oruwariye and Hand, which would solve a lot of problems. Offense is mainly set in terms of the line-up. Needs significant development up front with guys like Crosby and Benzschawel stepping forward, and also some young talent behind them in the draft in the rounds 3-6 range at WR, RB and OL.
Yeah, Slay obviously is in there if he's not dealt. I just don't see that happening. I don't know what to make of Coleman. We're stuck with him, so hopefully he plays better than that awful stretch in the middle of the year and gets a bit better luck.
Rapoport says we're "flipping late round draft picks". No clue what that means, but it doesn't sound like we're losing anything other than draft position for one of our picks.
Most teams keep 4. Patricia likes to play 3 at a time fairly frequently. Guessing Harmon is basically taking Tavon Wilson's spot on the roster, even though they are different styles of player.
Stop trading and signing for patriots rejects that they no longer want. Nobody leaves New England and ends up being successful elsewhere
If they keep Slay this seems like a solid move. If this is so they can trade him away, it's just more Quinn being Quinn
Me too. Good corners are hard to find. Keep him, trade back a couple spots for draft capital and take Simmons
Reports are that Slay to Philly is in the works. I think they have two 3rd rounders and three 4th rounders.
