I live in an exurb with a nice little downtown full of restaurants and small shops. It's a destination location for dinner in the area. On any given weeknight, there isn't street parking available. Typically in the evening, we walk about a 1.5 mile loop in and around main street, takes about 30 mins. Last night we saw 1 car and 4 people. That's with the restaurants being open for carryout/delivery.
spoke to the site manager of the company we outsource to in Costa Rica yesterday and he said they are implementing measures but they "only" have 50 cases at this point. I mean that's about the same as the DFW metroplex and the entire country has half the population of DFW.

Is this even possible? I would love if it was, but I am just one company with 60 employees and my weekly payroll is $140K. In fact I just read the house bill on sick leave and I am confused as to how they expect most small companies to fund that through tax rebates. Nobody is making money this year, tax rebates next year for money not made = Nothing. Am I missing something?

Updates on where the virus is, where it’s headed, new measures both for social distancing and to help people impacted, day to day tips on how to manage the crisis. What to do/not to do. Pleas for artists and stars to get their fans to do what’s being asked of them. What was done in the last 24 hours, what will be done and what’s being done etc. Makes the quarantine at home somewhat more bearable. And Arruda, the director is the fucking man. Been on the job for 20 years under 3 different party leadership and everyone’s only got glowing things to say. The man’s been through SRAS, H1N1, Aviairy flu, Zika, and has pretty much always managed those muddy waters expertly.

What is the mechanism to make that work? For example how would I document what money I need to make payroll and when and how would we get reimbursed? I am just saying I am one small company. When you add them all together I struggle to see where all of the money is going to come from, but I haven't done the math and have no idea how to do it. One thought I had that I am curious to hear people's opinions about is that if the govt is to give everyone $1000 per month and I do keep my employees employed by taking out loans and doing what is necessary to keep going, would it be inappropriate to ask them to take a deduction of that amount in pay, since that is basically a windfall if we are working to keep them employed? Understand my median worker is getting paid $85K and most work from home. It wouldn't be taking money out of their pockets. It would be helping us get through as a company. This would equate to a $65K or so saving per month, which is not insignificant, but would be neutral for the employees. We are also in the process of putting in better and cheaper healthcare at the same time. Thoughts?
