SIAP Just ordered a set of resistance bands. I lift 4-5 days a week, no home equipment so like most everyone out of commission. As an old timer it’s a challenge to maintain lean mass and gains. Question, can I get at least something close to comparable if used correctly and at sufficient levels?
Buy a cheapo 1 from amazon. <$100 1 from amazon is probably the best value I've had for anything I've bought. This is a bigger version with higher handles than the 1 I have.
these are the ones I have. Had them for years so not sure if there's a lot better out there, but they've been good so far
Me: Man those Ironmasters 75# would be perfect... My good side: No we dont have the money RN. Need to save up. You already spent a lot of money My bad side: STFU FAGIT BUY THEM! Me: STOP FIGHTING YOU TWO ITS ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS!
There will be less stimulus, but sub-optimal stimulus is better than no stimulus. Do what you can and try to get better each week. Whether that be more reps, more sets, more bands, etc.
My wife has basically had us in quarantine since Friday.... between keeping two toddlers at the house and working from home, my home gym and her echelon (less expensive peloton) have been such stress relievers.
yeah. i dont mind that. i just cant do it. I know if i cross the rubicon im going all the way and ordering the 165 expansion
My locally owned gym plans to stay open (but with no classes or group training) until mandated by the government not to
Bought a couple more things today, I need to chill and feel kinda guilty. Hope all of you are safe and your jobs aren't affected
I got my rack off Craigslist and never really mess with the cables because they sucked. A couple weekends ago I was bored messing around in the garage and greased the pulleys and runner and was really surprised by how much of a difference it made.
Yeah these are basic pulleys can't grease them. The wheel is rubbing up against the housing. It's not a big deal.
Between the tricep pulldowns on the spud pulley and skullfuckers with the mutt bar my triceps are cooked.
Well this has been an up and down day. -this morning I got word my gym was closing -2pm my gym owner calls and says I can take some stuff home -3pm I get there to grab a couple dumbbells and a barbell to just hopefully make something work and a buddy says he has a house under construction but the garage is finished and we can set up a gym. so now I’ve got 505lbs, a fat pad bench, a bar, a rack, and a couple sets of dumbbells. What a fucking outcome
hensleya or anyone else who may know. What’s the difference between the Powerblock classic elite set ( https://www.roguefitness.com/powerblocks-home-use ) and powerblock EXP ( https://www.roguefitness.com/powerblock-series-exp-dumbbells )? Looks like you can “add” onto the EXP 50, but the add ons seem crazy expensive making me think I’m wrong.
He looks like a 45 year old unathletic dad but Graham Hicks is up there in strength with anyone on the planet
Yesterday Shoulders Press Double 24kg KB 4x12 Press Single 34kg KB 6x3 Press Mutt Bar 4x12 plus black band Press Mutt Bar 4x12 Face Pulls 4x20 Banded lateral raise / front raise Paused Shrugs with my 24kg bells.
Oh most definitely. He posted a post lift video in his truck and I can see where he comes from. I'm trying to talk myself into their trap bar. I just can't decide if I can quit the gym or not. I lift so much at lifetimes other locations. I don't know what to do.
Gym is officially closed They are renting out equipment to help replace their income. Pretty cool idea and good for them. Too bad I don't have anywhere to put it
My home setup is incredibly limited with regards to weights, so I’ll just have to focus on body weight and cardio for the foreseeable future. Pull up bar Echo bike Yoga mat 20# medicine ball 20 & 25# dumbbells Jump rope Spoiler
Have a school or park within running distance? Been hitting up my local middle school to do pull ups on their playground. Other than that, been about 10 days with no working out. Perhaps a small break would be good for my joints, nervous system, etc.
Ordered my powerblock dumb bells a week and a half ago expecting things to shut down, still waiting for them. Got my pullup bar, resistant bands and peloton. My brother and I are doing daily pushup challenges to hold ourselves accountable and adding in other random body weight activites just to try and supplement some strength training. Going to be pushing volume until this ends and I'll be honest, I hate volume.
Sorta wish I got those Ironmasters. But I have more than enough stuff. And let's be honest everyone will be throwing this stuff on eBay eventually. Garage Gyms are going to be full of post quarantine goodies.
Agreed, although I’d be lying if I wasn’t looking at a wall mounted rack for my garage right now. Probably not worth the divorce to be able to get some decent squat workouts in during this... probably.
Was just talking with my wife about this last night. There’s going to be a ton of unused bars and plates on the secondary market in 12mo.
Bumper plates and dumbbells are sold out all over. Wish I grabbed some 55's but I doubt everyone's wives will let them keep this stuff post-CVQ. I just need to find a legit spot the set up my DL Platform that's arriving today.
Best cardio home workout there is on the market. Wife and I got it two and a half years ago and its been a god send with small kids. The recovery rides are great after a hard day of training to flush out the legs, felt ready to lift harder faster.
I got it for her, but I’m secretly really excited about it. I’ve spent a ton of money on my garage gym - I couldn’t deny her the one thing she’s ever asked for with gym equipment. Lol
