Course near my house is absolutely jammed. I thought it was closed and was going to sneak on this secluded 3 hole stretch to hit some balls but had to bail on that.
The country club a lot of our friends go to has it spreading through it like crazy. There was the paddle tennis tournament there a week and a half ago that seems to have got a lot of people and then more and more kept going last weekend for dinner/paddle. Probably a couple dozen at least with Corona. Thank goodness for being poor and not joining there yet
this in CT/NY? I was there and heard someone had it during the tournament. My buddy who is pro across street from my club said he was just told he gave a lesson to someone who tested positive.
I don’t understand how public courses can be open with the stay at home order. My father in laws club is completely closed. Some public courses seem to be taking the chance, likely because they can’t afford to not be open.
when we come out the other side of this covid stuff I think I'm going to put together a golf trip to ireland. any and all suggestions/advice/recommendations are welcome. tia
I've seen it, was just thinking maybe some users might have been over there and had some personal thoughts.
I'm sure you saw the pictures of the beaches yesterday, people can't help themselves so I'm sure we'll be on even more strict lockdown here soon enough
There's probably no chance the US Open goes on, especially with it being in NY right? We have tickets to the final round
It will be really interesting how this all plays out. You have the biggest tournaments all in danger, FedEx cup doesn't want to start up with just the wrap around season, and West Coast swing then you have the dud of the wrap around season (start new season?) standing in the way of the tournaments we all want to see being rescheduled in the fall. There are probably going to be sponsors that are at risk of dropping or at least would be willing to be off the hook for a year.
People are heated up on next door about this course being open. Read a post there and a bunch of people called to complain they were open and they were hung up on. People now taking pictures of the groups playing to document who is not following the order. There are also some very upset posts about the men in the park playing soccer.
Yeah man that sucks. I've talked to a couple people who were supposed to go to Masters for the first time ever. One of my good friends was supposed to play in some sort of ANGC member guest the week after the Masters. He's beside himself.
our club is still open and we're supposed to play 18 this afternoon. Now if the gd sun would come out, that would be nice.
Ballybunion was pretty spectacular. We also played Mount Juliet and it was really nice, but Ballybunion was like an Irish Pebble Beach IMO
States on lockdown, but was able to get out in golf today. Was much needed. Looks like only one day in the next 10 is going to have decent weather again. Back to shelter in place.
Went golfing for the first time in like 2 years over the weekend. Driver was not pretty, but irons were pretty decent. Played The Plantation in Ft Myers. First time on a private course. Water on every hole. Had to use a loaner set of clubs. I am full of excuses. Shot like a 105, gross.
So I've been walking the course. Had a guest with me tonight and didn't want him paying full guest fee to walk... We took 4 carts. That is how you social distance.
Incredibly lame that golf channel is just bowing out to tournament sponsors rather than playing classic golf. Nothing but Valspar and Dell replays.
Ohio golf courses shut down for the time being. Not that we have the best weather right now for it, anyway.
I am waiting for this to happen in Michigan. Going out again this afternoon, but know there is growing hatred for people golfing. This is the last nice day in the 10 day though as well. I will say it's bullshit for our course anyway. All employees are under the Shelter in Place and cant work except for the kitchen that allows takeout orders. It's just members that have their clubs available can go to the course. No rakes, no pins, no ball washers, no garbage cans, no range, etc. Everything is locked up so there is no contact except for who you are playing with.
Courses closed down in NY over the weekend, but NY Golf Assoc. got clarification from Cuomo that they can open back up
“All places of public amusement, whether indoors or outdoors, including, but not limited to, locations with amusement rides, carnivals, amusement parks, water parks, aquariums, zoos, museums, arcades, fairs, children's play centers, playgrounds, funplexes, theme parks, bowling alleys, movie and other theaters, concert and music halls, and country clubs or social clubs shall be closed.” But, I've only seen Dayton area writers write about it, haven't seen anything from my local news, Columbus.
My club has put a small piece of a pool noodle around the bottom of all the pins so that you can’t actually hole a putt
Keeping scorecard in my pocket becomes a mess and hard to write on. Is getting a yardage book cover a douche move? Bluegrass fairways makes a nice plain leather one.
Push cart mafia guy here and it thankfully has a clip for the card. I wouldn’t think much of seeing a guy pull a book out of his pocket to write on his card because I’ve definitely sweat through shorts enough to ruin multiple cards before
