Our upright freezer died yesterday. Luckily we have an old fridge we use for overflow and I was able to shove everything into the available freezer space. We called around and everywhere is completely sold out and don't expect to get any in until mid April.
I was lucky. We are in the middle of a kitchen renovation (fml) and had a backup fridge in the garage. With everything shutting down and our contractors stopping work we decided we needed a backup freezer to weather out the storm for 4-6 weeks. Our contractor was amazing and found us a 21 cu ft upright freezer like 90 minutes away and it’s been delivered on Sunday. Previously we were told they are generally sold out country wide for the foreseeable future
This probably doesn’t go here but this is the best angry old man thread so here goes...directv decided to delete my speed dial presets on my remote for no good reason and I’m angry about it.
Sherwin Williams is doing curbside pick up if you need to paint something. I hate painting but it’s never gonna get done otherwise if I have a game to watch.
Nope, not within 100 miles. They said they don't expect to get any in until mid April since the parts come from China.
That’s somewhat fascinating. I wouldn’t have expected people to go out and buy a bunch of appliances like they did with toilet paper. I guess they don’t keep much inventory in stock at a warehouse.
Had final walk through with the builder yesterday for our new house. Nothing really big, but a lot of paint touch ups. Can’t wait to move in. Barring the world falling apart, we close on Friday.
Yeah, I’m curious what’s possible remotely. I know they’re all working remotely, but can we close remotely. We got the cleared-to-close notice already.
It depends on the title agency. In California they're doing mobile closings where the title agency is driving around to the homes and doing the closings on site.
I got about 100 fire ant stings/bites yesterday when I inadvertently stood on a pretty big mound that was camouflaged in a mulch bed. Fire ants 1, me 0. 24 hours later, Orthene, with what I assume is instant cancer causing chemicals, has crushed everything it was poured on. No activity in or around the mound. Me 1, fire ants 1. Let’s see what happens for round 3.
Upright freezer delivered. It was a floor model so absolutely filthy. Fully expect it to die in 12-18 months.
Decided to install a wireless mesh system. I live in the city so house is not huge - three stories ~950 SF each - but router is on the main floor and connectivity can be spotty on the lower and upper floors. Amazon EERO was recommended by my neighbor as easy-to-install, effective and inexpensive (looks like $200). Anyone have experience with it? Or recommend something else?
We're supposed to close Thursday, so I feel your pain. Our wedding was postponed by a hurricane and now closing on our first house this happens. If I ever announce on here my wife is pregnant you guys might want to go buy toilet paper and bread.
My garbage disposal that just needed a flip of the circuit breaker is now completely shot. So now I need a new garbge disposal and trying to decide how much I need one during a shelter in place, vs just going to home depot and buying one.
Just talked to my guy. Business as usual for now. Said as of now there’s no way that we could sign early or do digital signature.
No. There's no reason to be putting shit down the drain that requires a disposal every time you wash dishes. Didn't your momma teach you anything?
This seems disproportionally hostile. But yes. I run my disposal almost every time I do dishes because who wants all that shit just sitting in the disposal instead of being flushed out through the pipes.
