Andy Reocho had 0 DND experience so you can ask him how game went. There’s some easy online YouTube videos that teach you enough. you need a laptop (or phone) that can run discord and probably a mic. That’s it. we started game at 9pm cst (actually more like 9:20) and played for about 2 hours
To sit down and play you’ll be just fine in one session. The only way to really learn the tricky/elaborate stuff is just getting hours in IMO. I had and will have questions, but this group all seems more on the beginner side of the curve so it’s cool
It’s just dungeons and dragons. We can go over things here, but I made a thread on the tv board where we discuss some things but it’s mostly the dnd podcasts we listen to
Pretty much have a bunch of guys that can do just enough to get people off the ground but no real healing
Combat healing in 5e is pretty weak anyway. Ranger healing spirit and the bard taking a heal should be enough
The bigger problem is I don't think we have anyone that is proficient with thieves tools. First locked door is going to shut down the campaign.
The last hex blade warlock I worked with tried to covert everyone into accepting a tentacle monster as their overlord. Could we expect the same from you?
i could also probably be convinced to play cleric because i love to heal but in the era of healing spirit are clerics even worth it
ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST ELDRITCH BLAST
But for real, was not expecting a nat 20 fucking arcana roll on that spirit dust. Was saving that nugget if you went down that storyline later
I have only ever played 3 one shots myself, so my class rankings based on those is: barbarian Bard Monk
Bladesingers still need more than one stat though. Hexblades get EVERYTHING from charisma. Hexblade outperforms the other warlocks by so much you get weird looks if you even play a different kind. Celestial is an exception because it's a completely different role, but the PHB ones are over. No one wonders why you aren't bladesinging if you play wizard.
Have a sun soul in the campaign i DM, and i just spend my time figuring out monsters with huge con modifiers
High level rogues are ridiculous too. Not only can they pass every skill check, they're routinely doing 40-60 damage from sneak attack every turn. They crit and can almost one shot a hill giant.
Seems like something our monk should be using, but I don't think I've heard him mention it. It would probably be annoying for me, but if he wants to start using it, he certainly can
One of us is hallucinating, I guess, because I don't recall him using that much if at all. Mainly flurry of blows. Then again, with all the ki points and attacks, it's possible it got lost in the shuffle and I'm misremembering. Roll20 should help with stuff like this, I'd think, since there's a chat record
