my company just stopped mandatory tie wearing for men two years ago, i'm gonna keep a low profile. further, my laptop is way off to the side and they'd basically be look at the side of my face
so use an iphone or ipad or buy a cheap video camera by logitech or microsoft. Side face does suck though, so mount the camera on your monitors.
They'd never do it. The cultural and language barrier are a huge issue we are facing. They're about to start rolling the offshore resources off the project.
I used to be the President of a youth soccer club and I am still the VP of Travel and a coach. Since everything is cancelled for now we are trying to keep the kids active. Starting this week, trainers will be running team based remote zoom training sessions.
I have a door frame pull up bar and 15 lb dumbbells. Bulk of exercise will be runs, squats, pushups, and pullups but I'm aiming to curl these 15s 1,000 times
With social distancing you can still leave the home to go for walks etc. No need to live like a recluse.
We have gone on more walks than ever, but it's not quite cutting it. This is why I wish I was in my new house. There's so much shit I could to get done.
So Orange Theory has suspended all their accounts, due to their studios being closed. They are posting videos of their suggested workouts from home. Thought I would share one in case someone wanted to use it. Spoiler
I also keep my bourbon and my dogs within my office. Makes me feel better. Yes, my wife is painting all of the rooms upstairs now to keep busy.
There are beginner step aerobics videos for free on Amazon Prime from some lady named Jenny Ford. I just about died after 30 minutes. YMMV, I'm fat.
If you don’t have a good desk chair at home (the $100 chair from Office Depot doesn’t qualify as a good chair), then take your chair from work home with you.
I go back to work from paternity leave on Monday after 8 weeks (yay great timing) now I have to wfh with a 7 month old at home, my wife also working from home.....I hate working from home even tho I always could but now I have to, and I’m old and shitty with technology so now I gotta learn how to do all these virtual meetings with my team and shit.....I am old school and love going to the office, see my friends, go to my lunch spots, in person meetings, getting dressed and on a schedule everyday for work......will see how this goes especially with the 7 month old at home for the first 3 weeks till his spot at daycare opens up not sure how We’re going to handle this yet
My espresso machine has been the real MVP of the quarantine. I bought some cheap ($75) Delonghi from Amazon a few months ago and it works great. The Lavazza super creme beans are great if you want a big, cheap bag. I prefer local roasters but a half pound typically costs as much as 2 lbs of the Lavazza. Been able to experiment with flavors and also reduce my milk consumption. Gonna try the Oatly barista to see how that stacks up to milk - so far I haven't been a fan of other non-dairy options. Now I just need to cut back on the espresso/caffeine in general.
Wow, that is minuscule. As an aside, my brother in law and my niece and nephew decided to run one mile every hour for 24 hours from Saturday through Sunday. It was a pretty cool corona activity.
We live in a 1,500 sq foot house that’s 110 years old, so not a lot of extra steps from room to room.
My kid is pretty solo in the backyard and I’ve already weeded, mowed, edged. Now I hit a wiffle ball on to my roof and see either a. How high I can hit it (often hit it over the house) or B. See how many times I can hit back onto the roof when it rolls down. It’s exhilarating.
I used to love doing this as a kid. my son has literally thrown a lax ball against a pitchback for over 80 hours this week. His soccer coach is also doing daily zoom practice sessions.
I WFH Q1 2018. I took that time to learn/adapt to time-restricted feeding and I'll never go back to eating breakfast (or lunch, for that matter). Not dealing with annoying as shit coworkers helps one better adapt to TRF. I suggest it trying it. Every day push back that first meal a little bit more. Soon enough it will be easy.
I've been a contractor for 2 years now, and wfh for about 14 months prior to that. It would take a massive amount of money to make me go to the same office every day ever again.
As a company, we decided to abandon Skype for Teams a week before we the “work from home/call in to meetings from your office to stay out of conference rooms” orders were passed down. Watching people learn Teams on the fly has been infuriating. It is honestly a lot less intuitive than Skype, but a five minute video on YouTube can completely sort you out if you even give half a shit about other people’s time.
Wife keeps creeping on my screens. May need to get some privacy shields. Cube walls could be coming to the living room soon.
jplaYa I've been wearing my Dwight sweater around the house almost daily. Usually without pants on. My wife is ready to burn it.
Somebody please help me break my routine of rolling out of bed at 6:30 and logging on out of boredom at 7 without doing any self care
been doing this shower, get dressed, and then I sit down at the laptop at exactly 8am. Lunch at 11:30. Still, I'm going stir crazy and I'm bored out of my mind, but at least it's a routine
I want to be in the routine of the guy on the Zoom meeting that didn't realize he was being video'd ripping the shit out of his bong in front of all of his co-workers. I have aspirations...
polo and shorts, but yesterday one of my employees put on a shirt/tie for our staff meeting what now passes for hilarity ensued
Before all this happened, about 50% of my calls were video. Now it's closer to 80%. Been funny to watch people who arent use to working from home go from sport jacket to collared shirt to shirt and ball cap, w stubble.
yeah it helps a lot, but normally you can actually leave the house and do stuff. i feel you in the stir crazy. i've been good until i cracked and tossed back 12 beers and 2 bottles of wine last night. i’m dead rn
