Everyone who has gotten sick in the last 6 months is trying to claim they already had it. Its a right wing conspiracy theory talking point.
I don’t agree that I’ve done this. The sources I’ve posted and discussed are mostly medical studies, and more recently articles quoting researchers at Mt Sinai and the U.K. regarding serological testing. Additionally, if you look at his conclusion, I think it probably tracks closer to what I’ve been saying all along ITT. His experts are in agreement that we only have hands on like 9% of cases, which is another point I’ve beaten to death. So even though he’s more or less supporting a lot of points I made, I still think it’s an unethical way of using his quant models and pushing his site traffic.
In looking through US history... the Great Depression happen on republican Herbert Hoover’s watch... and we got FDR as a result. Maybe, with any luck, this crisis will provide us with a similar opportunity with leadership.
There was no fox news then. If not for Fox news I think trump would have been removed. Such a cancer.
where does it say that money is going directly to the hospital and only on the hospital? Or are you just assuming that because it sounds better politically for your team?
What a fucking cliff hanger, I want to know who gave the speech that he’s talking about in the replies, if it wasn’t Obama who was it?
Are you aware that universities, particularly those in population centers, are encountering non-medical expenses as a result of this? Who fucking cares if some of it is used for non-hospital purposes. It's not even a drop in the god damn bucket.
Serious question. If something happened to Biden between now and say the summer, does Bernie just become the nominee? What if something happened to both of them. How does the nomination work, is it just a free for all again? Its a valid question because it is sort of a remotely possible scenario.
all matters if it happens before or after the convention iirc after the convention and VP choice it's obvious pre-convention you'd probably have his delegates get reallocated based on state outcomes
FWIW the number of reported deaths seems to be holding relatively steady in the 600's the last several days. Possibly a good sign, possibly a problem with reporting
It's pretty much impossible to keep up with unless you are in this thread 24/7 which I DO NOT recommend
howard has a $700 million endowment and all universities are responsible for charging crazy tuition which is a large reason why student loans and my generation is as fucked as it is. I don’t believe any university, especially ones with endowments greater than $100 million, should get free money to spend however they want. There should be tuition freezes attached unless money is going directly to the hospital.
if biden dies, the dnc will never in a million years give it to bernie. they'll almost assuredly nominate cuomo and there is historical precedence on it:
At the same time, Howard University is cherished in the DC community. The Congress is DC’s State Legislature and it’s appropriate for them to be a source of assistance to Howard. Universities in every State will be going to their legislatures begging for money. It’s what they do. Like you, I think the requests should be denied. But, Howard’s situation was addressed by the appropriate body.
This is not at all surprising. Couldn't believe she left beltline and parks open. They need to be closed.
This is the correct reading. The enabling legislation lists several purposes for which the university can use the money. I think they are smart enough to spend a decent amount on the hospital, but most of it will go to supplement the University’s loss of revenue generally.
Like you said, my point is that in general, the schools who created the student loan crisis and have major endowments shouldn’t be rewarded by federal or state governments. Dip into that fat endowment for that instead of the 5th new building or the year. Higher education has gotten out of control. Nothing to do with Howard specifically. One exception would be money going directly to a hospital.
New Jersey just released their numbers update. 2,492 new cases since yesterday, now up to a total of 6,876. Huge increase. 19 new dead.
I absolutely agree. The universities still got their tuition and fees paid this semester. People who bought parking permits aren’t getting refunds. Yet, somehow, they will develop long lists of lost revenues not related to their hospitals.
Girl I know in Atlanta from a small ass town has a dad in the hospital with Covid. His profile pic is him with Brian Kemp(our dumbass Governor with no balls to stand up to Trump and save lives) and don’t worry everyone is praying to Jesus for him.
Yes and no, if you get it and know it, quarantine yourself for 3 weeks you can go be a very productive and safe member of society. Can help healthcare workers, etc. If you dont know then you could just be spreading it more which is counterproductive. Test, Test, Test.
