Mine delivered today. Was supposed to be a surprise for my wife but they came 30 minutes early before she left for work. Obviously still surprised. Sent out a note yesterday that they can’t come in the house for COVID reasons. I find that responsible but also sucks. I’m going to have get this downstairs.
Just had ride #50 a couple days ago. Did a quick spreadsheet with some of the stats from each ride to find out what instructors/music motivate me the most. Got the bike MLK day and I think I’ve rode 5x each week. Definitely worth the money - the convenience factor is worth it alone. I probably hadn’t worked out more than 1x per week since 2013, so that’s a drastic change in habits. Plus it guilt trips me every time I see it and I haven’t rode yet that day, “you can’t find 30 minutes to ride this thing you’re a POS”, then I ride and then I feel good.
that was me the first 6 to 7 months I had the bike. I would look at the bike and tell myself how can I spend that much and not ride. I still ride a lot but the guilt has gone away.
does anyone have a tray that allows for PC use? i'm thinking about getting one so I can casually ride/move while I work.
i'm talking about something like this for a laptop: my friend has one and she says it's good. but she's also pretty tired so i wonder what it'd be like for someone with larger legs, etc. she says the laptop doesn't slide or fall but i'd love to hear from someone itt.
Wondering how many instructors won't be there for a while. Doesn't Dennis live in Florida? Or some others who commute in for periods at a time?
I only ride with three instructors: Alex, Denis and Ben. It all depends on my mood and energy level. Ben if I want a chill ride, Denis if I need a kick I’m the ass and Alex when I’m completely motivated and want to break a PR.
They all live in New York unless they are overseas. Not sure how they will break up the classes with them scaling back on the live rides if not completely wiping them out with the problems New York is having.
I realize this is not the time to complain, but they need more outdoor running classes - especially in light of what is going on in the world. Two 30 minute hip-hop classes is unacceptable.
Trying to cast to TV using Roku. I haven’t had any luck with Roku Express. Thinking about buying the stick. Anyone have an experience with anything that works well? One of the reasons I bought was to cast “other” classes.
PR'd on Ally Love's 30 minute HITT and Hills ride yesterday. Was brutal but she organizes her rides so well. They are tough but very manageable.
Ran 2.5 miles in 19:36 today. Ran out of gas at the end and decided to puss out instead of going for the full three. Getting too damn hot out here already.
Couldn’t talk the wife into going all out for the Peloton so have the Schwinn IC4 coming this week. Please don’t boo me for my poverty.
huh? Peloton’s digital app has outdoor runs as well as being able to stream run/ boot camp (run-strength combination) workouts on non peloton threads. Right now I just did a 45 min outdoor run.
the app is really great and the classes go well beyond just cycling. outdoor running, bootcamp, walking, strength training, yoga, meditation, stretching, and i think they just added dance aerobic classes. it's incredible.
It’s part of the overall subscription. Yoga and meditation classes right now are clutch. With all the shit going on taking 10-20 minutes for yourself is needed.
rv12 peloton has a free one month trial right now . Obviously you can’t use it for the thread or bike but you could check out the other class types to see how you like it.
Nobody's seen the unannounced and unreleased upcoming Peloton tablet, so eat your heart out, here it is: Stuff Peloton's working on in 2020 This tablet will be for upcoming, as-yet-unannounced products. That's a smaller Tread, a "smart bike" (codename Project Titan), and a rower. Announcements were planned for Homecoming 2020 (May 1-3), and as they're now streaming select homecoming events and have already begun pre-recording some of them. The current expectation is they'll still do announcements, just via stream. Also at homecoming, they'll announce some changes to the member's area of the website that'll integrate into the leaderboard, including hashtags for communities (e.g. #RedditRiders). They'll display on your profile, and you'll see how many people are "following" each and who's "in" those communities. They're also working on a "ride lobby" for group rides, like the ones we do here. You'll be able to join friends - for any ride, even on-demand - and then all start at same time and have your video/audio and leaderboards synced. Relevant info on new tablet This is the "PLTN-TTR01" e.g. model number TTR01. It will support Apple GymKit for Apple Watch, via the NFC chip that's behind the top/center of screen. The tablet is 22", exactly like the bike's current screen. It runs a Qualcomm 1708 MHz, 8-core processor, has 3.8 Gb of memory, and is running Android 9.0 "Pie". It'll support Miracast casting; ANT+ and BLE; and 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi. Wifi is 2.4Ghz (2 streams) and 5Ghz (2 streams). It's been actively in development since at least 2018 by Quanta Computer - the manufacturer of Peloton's other tablets - and finished design by spring 2019. I posted news about it 4mos ago, and it was then filed w/ the FCC on 6 Jan 2020. The tablet's development was codenamed "Project Topaz". Each Peloton tablet generation (bike and tread) has been named after gemstones. Gen 1 bike tablet = "Quartz", e.g. PLTN-QUARTZ Gen 2 (current) bike tablet = "Ruby", e.g. RB1V1 (Sept 2016), RB1VQ (2018) , and RB1VO (2019) Tread (current tablet) = "Sapphire", e.g. TC1VS Tread 2nd gen tablet (unannounced) = "Topaz", e.g. TTR01 Link to Reddit thread
Did a 30 minute HIIT ride today during lunch and it was pretty great. Anyone have any recommendations for the 45 and 60 minute classes?
Snapped a pedal directly off the crank arm the other day. And of course Peloton isn’t sending out repair techs to do in-home work. They said they’d send me the parts but apparently it’s more than just removing a bolt like I expected. It requires some bike tools that I would have to buy and they made it clear that anything I fucked up trying to fix it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I’m crushed. I miss my bike.
Yeah they extended it with COVID: https://www.theverge.com/2020/3/16/21182267/peloton-workout-app-trial-at-home-subscription Not sure how long this is for though.
Yea I am trying to alternate. Outdoor run one day, and a ride the other. Have to say I am still rocking the "redneck" peloton, which is just an Amazon spin bike with an ipad strapped to it. The ability to link your HR and Cadence sensor to the app now is a huge improvement. Buddy though bought the bike a year ago and has rode it twice offered to sell his to me for 2200 with all the extra gear. I am very tempted. I jumped into the April 30 ride challenge and then a couple others. I wasn't proud but was hungover af yesterday and forced myself through a 20 minute beginner class. Going to have to make up for that today.
I've started queing up Peloton outdoor runs and rowing to them instead. It's certainly challenging and my upper body needs a lot of work.
I didn’t see another thread so I’ll post here. I went with the Nordictrack s22i for around the same price as Peloton.
Core with Emma helps immensely with rowing from personal experience. My shoulders were getting shot just running/cardio doing rowing and knew I was going to fuck something up. Also doing lower body strength workouts are money as well. Rowing shouldn't signal your upper body needs a lot of work. After doing the strength core after rowing my lower body and core kill which I learned is supposed to happen.
how is that working out? I’ve wanted to do boot camp workouts but with the bike taking over the place of the running part.
