Thats my complaint at a local level. You see what is happening there and did pure arrogance win out to not take measures to avoid it happening in your town/city/state? As soon as NY saw a rise in cases there should have been a massive shutdown to stop the spread.
My friend works for his in-laws in a family business in South Ga. He’s got two young kids under 5. They told their employees last week it’s up to them whether they work or not. So a couple people decided they were leaving. As they’re walking to their cars, the owner's wife(my friends mother in law) yells “you know you’re not going to be paid!” They leave anyway. The lady then says she will fight their unemployment claims bc they’re cheating the system. They told my friend, father of their grandchildren, “you can’t be a host if you’re filled with the Holy Ghost.” ...His father in law has now been in the hospital since Saturday and they’re waiting on the test results.

I totally get it, just pointing out that they aren't mutually exclusive issues. He can be a shitty person and President and our for profit hospitals could have screwed up. I'm guessing hospitals that cut PPE to try to improve profit margins would still be behind the curve even if Trump took it seriously from day one. I also find it super odd that California tech companies seem to be required by law to warehouse PPE for forest fires but small regional hospital systems are allowed to cut budgets and rely on just-in-time inventory models that clearly don't hold up when hospitals are needed most. Just a small part of the giant conversation that needs to happen on this shit after its over.
