I amend my previous comment to thus "if they mix that RVW I am never going to read their paper again" hopefully that meets the regulations of this thread
Found a store just before quarantine with Baby Saz for $29.99 and 1Ls of OGD BIB for $24.99. My stockpile of those two have done the trick for me thus far.
What’s everyone.’s favorite “cheap” bourbon? I understand “cheap” is a relative term so whatever is that means. I like the Jim Beam Black and at 17 I don’t feel bad buying it right now.
Starter whiskey kit (sub $25 bottles): Buffalo Trace Rittenhouse rye Larceny Wild Turkey 101 Sub in ~$32 OGD in there for the higher proof option and...
That’s the BrickTamland official starter pack for the OP. I’m open to suggestions for the rye as I’m not really knowledgeable of any other good $25 options. Sazerac is close but I’ve never seen it below $30.
I need to try Bulleit rye. And agreed on Bulleit as a good value, there are just other options I prefer at that price.
Picked up some Russell Reserve 10 yr for $26.99 at ABC based on recommendations from this group and it is fantastic. I like it better than eagle rare. On a side note I picked up some Henry McKenna and don’t think it’s worth the 60 I paid
McKenna is tough one to gauge bc pretty recently it was $29-35 and available everywhere, and now it’s hard to find and always $50+. I like it a lot, but hard to treat it like ETL or RHF or other “allocated” bourbons
When you get a good price I really like the rye. I think in Nashville there is a store where you can get and handle for 35ish. It works great in cocktails
Speaking of Brown-Forman, I don’t see anyone ever mention Early Times BiB. $25-30 for a liter seems like it should be worth a mention.
Early Times BiB - like $23 here for a liter since that’s the only size it’s bottled in for some reason Edit: Brick beat me to i Evan Williams BiB is also pretty solid
I’ll trade all my McKennas for your RHF and ETLs because I love you guys and I’m generous. Send PMs. Thanks.
Maybe a little less, but Hancock's, McKenna, Russel's Single Barrel, Maker's RC6, Maker's Cask Strength, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
Yard work all day finished up with some WSR tonight. Lower proof can be nice sometimes as you can have a few extra and still stand up
I’m surprised how hard it is to think of bourbons in that price range. Most I buy are either sub $60 or $100+, emphasis on sub $60.
