Yeah, I wouldn’t count on that. We have probably two more months (April and May) of mostly shelter in place. After that, it’ll be a slow blue-screen reboot of social gatherings, starting with movie theaters, restaurants and bars and slowly moving toward shopping centers and malls. Games in stadiums with people are further down the road. As for games without fans? You have to quarantine each team, each team’s coaching staff, each team’s support staff, umpires, media, television crew, stadium personnel, hotel employees, etc. If someone in that group gets it, jig is up. Not to mention states (California being one) that won’t allow such events to happen. There are a shit-ton of logistical hurdles that need to be cleared. I would just assume no sports for 2020 and be pleasantly surprised if that timetable is accelerated.
If I was gonna go “lol you guys are wrong” I’d gamble on football, not baseball in July. The fucking NBA is looking toward canceling their season rather than playing this summer, and they could’ve jumped quickly into playoffs. Very doubtful the mlb starts up by July.
Football might start up earlier than baseball only because its season starts later. Multiply what I said by 3 or 4 and that’s what football’s facing.
