There will prob be more than one shelter in place window after this one, and we'll have to social distance for a long time (unless you find out you've had it). Complicated picture. Early estimates were that ~50% would get it. If it dies down, and shelter in place orders are lifted, then there will be flare ups. Ppl will start traveling more heavily and new hotspots will develop.
Once we know who has had it, we can send those people back into the real world. Need some type of at home prick your finger test.
you really just need someone to educate people on the plan if people think shelter in place (and not various versions of social distancing that can be localized as testing ramps up etc) is the move until we get a vaccine compliance rates will decline the kind of shrug yolo ever changing plan that gets changed by state governments overruling local ones then reactive to trumps impulses is just the worst kind of stew
If done right, playing golf is probably pretty safe. Unfortunately most people will double up in carts and take group pictures.
Bored, tired, helpless, but also anxious and antsy to be doing something but I’m sick of cleaning and house shit. I need the weather to get better here.
Yeah ok tough guy, but how many MLB execs are you talking to? Seriously, this is not fucking complicated. Sports can’t happen without a vaccine or effective treatment. Cases would sprout up instantly and spread like wildfire and the league would shut down. An mlb season would last a week tops.
Our somewhat destination wedding is in August. We’re starting to think we’re gonna have to delay it. Idk what that means for people who have booked their travel and room.
I agree with everyone that there won’t be any sports until 2021. It’s going to be a complete shitshow when sports come back as well. You’re going to see every major pro and college sport doing truncated seasons in the same fucking window of time.
There’s going to be a sport that comes back this year in some capacity (empty arena, neutral sites, etc)
It’ll be the NHL if it’s anyone. I’m a massive hockey fan, and I hate the idea. That said, they always are looking for ways to grow the sport. Being the only sport playing certainly is one way of trying that.
Imo cancel it sooner rather than later to give your guests a better fighting chance at getting a refund.
In some ways (hotel, rental car) that's definitely better to do it early. But for flights, they might be better off waiting until closer so they get refunds (like if the flights get cancelled) I would 100% make the decision on yourself ButchCassidy. Good luck
you also have media, stadium workers, television production personnel, hotel/quarantine personnel and support staff in each city, airline personnel and support staff in each city, differing allowances from each state. And before all that, you need a few weeks of spring training where all of those previous factors are at play. It’s a 4th-and-30 Hail Mary.
This is much different than hanging out with a friend in person. Use FaceTime/Houseparty/Zoom and hang out that way.
Working for home and only going to the store when something is needed. Have had takeout delivered a couple times, but far less than usual. Occasionally a neighbor or two will have a beer with me in the driveway. overall I feel my family is doing well at social distancing. We are blessed that we we work in positions that keep us employed and can do it from home during this
So true. People are on the verge of cutting their wrists in there, more than usual. It’s much worse than normal, and normal makes me want to hurl my head at a metal 2x4 much of the time.
I know civil courts, etc are closed. Talked to a criminal defense attorney and they are doing trials via video with judge and clerk in courtroom and inmate from jail. Thought that was interesting
What’s sad is if he has debt on those buildings the bank would do a 90 day payment deferral and push those 3 months to the end of his loan. He probably did that and is still expecting rents. Fucking shit bag
yeah, probably, but I just have a really hard time giving a shit about any of it right now. Just seems so trivial.
This is the nightmare scenario I was thinking of yesterday. Football starts. You play 3 games and oops a couple of guys on one team has it. You have to quarantine two other teams that just played them for two weeks. Then someone on the quarantined teams tests positive and on and on. I think this is why you never even see an attempt at starting back up until way on down the line
