Wonder if they're going to freeze qualifying as of March 31 like normal. I'd be pretty pissed if I'm the current world #49 or something and fall out of qualifications this summer/fall.
Temps should not be that much different than last year's (which were cooler than normal). Usually see a fall off in warmer weather around Halloween.
This is still one of the biggest question marks out there, especially for Ryder Cup qualifying. Augusta said they’re canceling the women’s amateur and anyone who qualified is invited back next year, as long as they stay an am.
Early word on spectators at the US Open depends entirely on how long they have to put up infrastructure. If it’s a short amount of time, they’ll likely have to limit to just WF members and their guests. Ideally, it’s a long amount of time so they can get a full crowd.
Early to mid Sept is probably the best time of year for golf courses around here. Generally warm to hot days, but still gets cooler over night so things don’t completely bake out like they can in August. Leaves on the trees just begin to change. Courses are generally in the best shape they’ll be all year.
The Open was the only tournament that had 100% insurance coverage and therefore the only ones that could afford to put it off a year.
I think this was the case with Wimbledon also. My dad was an insurance exec for a long time and couldn’t believe they had a policy that would cover this situation. He was very excited.
Walked 18 for the first time since HS, I bet. Felt good. Probably going back to walking as much as possible. May need to join the Push Cart Mafia though.
So something I've started doing with great success.. I've been getting tee times in the first hour and asking to play the back. My group has been the only people on that side every day. Amazing way to play golf.
I’ve had a Tour Trek One Click 360 for a couple years now and have been very satisfied. There’s a lever to lock/unlock the front wheel from swiveling and having one that can spin makes it much easier to maneuver
So, this is weird. My “spikes” started crumbling really quickly (bought the shoes last fall). I buy replacements and go to start taking the old ones out and half of them fucking crumble to the point the tool rips through the holes making it impossible to get the old spikes out. Surely I’m not the first this has happened to. Any suggestions? (Pic taken after I had been wrestling with these things with pliers for a bit...)
Is your spike wrench just the one with the two prongs on it? I have one that has an interchangeable head called a ripper that will grip into the old spike and can unscrew anything
Looking at the condition of those, I'm not sure any spike wrench will work. Gonna need to break out the needle nose and elbow grease imo
This guy. Or just come over to the dark side and get last season’s FootJoy Pro SL for $100 https://www.golfgalaxy.com/p/softspikes-cleatkaddy-for-golf-spikes-sp11cleatkaddy/sp11cleatkaddy
I had a pair of dryjoys and couldn’t get the spikes out. After looking online, saw that some people soak the bottom of the show in hot water and it softens them up?
That's just to make it easier on you Florida guys. We all remember how the Fiesta Bowl went with no lube...
Correct. Very hot water can help. I would try to unscrew them under the running hot water in the sink.
Can't you just take them back and probably get a new pair? Spikes shouldn't do that and I would think it's reasonable to expect a pair of golf shoes to outlast one set of soft spikes.
11/12/13 At least that's my favorite stretch of holes, I don't know if 11 would be what I'd want to play because it's hard as shit
Yeah I just can’t imagine a situation where I don’t hit it into the water there with the ball above my feet. From the member tees it’s still going to be a shorter iron though. It’s 400 vs 505.
