Sunil stacked this DC team so much. Etcheverrey, Harkes, Moreno, Pope, Agoos, Diaz-Arce. Half of the leagues best 11 were on their roster.
Check out these formations, notice something? EVERYBODY ran a 4-4-2. I think DonG made it a prerequisite to play in the league back then. Then a short tempered GM decided to sack his useless coach and do it himself. He knew nothing about tactics but fell in love with the 4-3-3 by playing striker in the eredivisie as a teenager. He told his team they better run and press the whole match or else he’d find someone to replace them (bye bye Herc). Around the same time Kreis was moving from player to manager and implementing his diamond and RSL went from shit to Cup/Shield winners. Spots then started to be given to younger coaches Petke, GGG, Porter, Marsch, Vanney, etc. Finally the league saw multiple formations and tactics across the league, it just took about 15 years to get there.
Tenorio and Stejkal were talking about this point. The new CBA isn’t fully ratified yet. So the owners essential could say “hey, were losing 40% of our games, you’re taking a 40% pay cut or we won’t sign.”
They also mentioned this. Tenorio looked at the net worth of ownership groups around the world, outside the EPL and the other Euro giant clubs MLS has some of the richest and most secure ownership in the world. With the Covid-Crisis and a global recession/depression bound to start, a lot of clubs in Europe and S America will need to offload salary to stay afloat. MLS could be in a position to add players at something crazy like 40 cents on the dollar. If the owners decide they want to take a huge jump and add $3 millionish to the salary cap or in _AM the league could take a huge step.
Wow. A lot of BAD and SICK guys over there in LA. Poor Latif getting taken advantage of. The only solution is to immediately terminate the contract and return him to the club that spent millions scouting and finding him in a little Ghanaian village of a couple thousand.
Pipa basically got knocked because Marshall won the cup and he didn’t but Pipa was robbed in 2015 as well so it makes sense
Started murmuring to myself when I hit about 10 calling this guy a hack, got to number one and Spoiler “It’s the crawl y’all”
I’m trying to find out more. Won’t happen tonight though. RSL announced the furloughs and pay cuts earlier today. Dear Leader Hansen is taking a lot of flak. If Jake is correct there will be a general uproar.
Top stuff lads. We had a nail biter this afternoon but my boy, the ‘Malaysian Messi”, Wan Kuzain bin Wan Kamal, led YOUR Sporting KC Wiz to triumph vs Hany Mukhtar of the hated Nashville FC Country Songs. Sporting sent out their best as I know for a fact LeKuz is not only the best FIFA player but also the best Fortnight player in the players lounge at Pinnacle training center at 1913 Pinnacle Way. But yikes the young buck got off to a rough start. The hated Mukhtar won match one 1-nil. Then jumped out in the 8th minute of match two with an early goal. Our lad Kuzain equalized before half and the two stalwarts battled to a 1-1 draw. But in Extra Time Kuzain found a winner and equalized the series. Riding that wave of confidence led LeKuz to a crushing 3-nil victory in the final and deciding match. Sporting retains their crown of best FIFA players in the league. Well done.
Well here we are. Going back and watching the old MLS 36 episodes that Fox Sports? made for a short time that one season. Collin and that damn fucking Napoleon statue. I remember busting up laughing the first time I saw it, his response, “Americans don’t understand class or elegance. You wear flip flops for fucks sake.” Also, that Opera scene, completely set up by the producers. That girl worked for FS or one of the local TV stations, can’t remember, but it’s not his fiancé/current wife. She’s a former Ms Venezuela and is smoke.
watching this UNC/Duke game from '14 when scrolling across the bottom line I see talk of MLS considering Atlanta among other cities as an expansion site
