I will say though the dolphins have done a masterful job leaking out misinformation to disguise who they really want

you have guys like Mcshay, Armando etc pitting out there they really want burrow

you have Matt miller and others putting out there that we want herbert over Tua

It seems post combine we either aren’t high on Tua or want it out there we want those 2 more to try and gain leverage for trade negotiations for us and the chargers who probably want to jump us

Not recruiting rankings by themselves, just as part of the big picture. Give me the guy that's always been the guy. Of course there are outliers but I can't be bothered with that. Treat it like poker. I'll take the odds of a guy with Tuas profile over a guy with Herbert's profile any day and feel good about my decision making process regardless of outcome.

It's impossible to try to guess how much Herbert would have done at Bama. All I know for sure if that at no point in the last three years would anyone at Bama have traded Tua for Herbert. Could the light go on for Herbert? Sure. But he's always been tall, good arm and missing something. If I were betting on Herbert over Tua I'd feel like I was trying to crack a big pair with J-4 though.

I'd be pretty surprised if Burrow/Tua in some order aren't 1-2 on the Dolphins QB board. I've seen some crazy shit though.

FWIW I absolutely believe the Fins have made serious inquiries about #1. They have absurd draft capital. They'd be crazy not to try get a price. I think the Lions are the more likely partner for whoever wants Tua though.

I know it's Gettleman and he's borderline mentally challenged, but I think he'd be absolutely nuts to not field offers and take the best if Tua is still there at 4. That could be about the best scenario possible for the Giants. Which means that Gettleman will probably hold #4 if Tua is there, pick a tackle of a running back and maybe give us our only shot of getting Tua in a non trade scenario.

Depends on if the chargers believe we are in on Herbert over Tua, and shit maybe we are

then they either decide to stand pat and Tua falls in their lap without them having to trade up or they don’t buy it and try to trade up but we can trump any offer they make

Don't sleep on the Raider or Jags either. Both are in striking range if they don't mind paying.

And hell, maybe Washington does the smart thing for about the first time in my life and take Tua/Burrow at 2. I know I would if I were them. Give me the QB over the DE any day when I don't have a QB.

they invested a 1st in Haskins last year and Snyder apparently is a big Haskins guy

    they aren’t picking a QB

Haskins has been announced as one of the Washington Racial Slurs draft party hosts. There's 0.0 chance they take a QB now.

Having Haskins host the draft party and then taking a QB would be the most Snyder thing ever.

In fairness, pretty sure the bears had Glennon at their draft party as they traded up to 2 for Trubisky

    5. MIAMI. In free agency 14 years ago, the most fateful decision in the NFL was quarterback-desperate Miami bypassing Drew Breesbecause of a major shoulder injury in favor of Daunte Culpepper. That, of course, changed the course of pro football history. In the draft this year, the most fateful decision will be another medical one, and it’s in quarterback-desperate Miami’s hands again: to draft Tua Tagovailoa with his injury history, or to pass him by.

Interesting to note that Chris Grier, the current GM, was a Miami national scout in 2006 and watched the organization make the safer, and ultimately dead-wrong, call. Interesting, too, that Grier was Miami’s director of college scouting under football boss Bill Parcells from 2008 to 2010—and one of Parcells’ favorite bromides is, “The most important part of ability is availability.” Tough call for Grier.

I do hear that he and coach Brian Flores are very much against trading the farm to move up to get Burrow—which some in the organization want to do. I doubt owner Stephen Ross will pull the owner card and force a mega-offer to try to move up to number one, but we’ll see. “You can’t say anything with certainty on Tua,” Mel Kiper says.

One last point, and I can’t take credit for it; a smart GM told me this Saturday. Imagine the buzzkill if the Dolphins take Tagovailoa, and there’s a huge virtual celebration, and Adam Schefter or Chris Mortensen take the TV throw from Trey Wingo and say: “Trey, I’ve been told that more than one NFL team gave Tua Tagovailoa a failing grade on his physical exam.” Welcome to Miami, kid

Who cares if other teams flunk him on a physical if we don’t? It’s a risk, we get it. But the reward is worth it

So many bullshit shadow GMs out there talking shit about Tua to just possibly be right later if he suffers a horrific injury

If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. Rather gamble on a superior prospect w/ injury concern than a guy that still could get injured, but is t as good a prospect.

I find it incredible when people talk about what a risk drafting Tua is and suggest we draft Herbert or Love instead.

Miami herald listed the QB options for the dolphins listed from least likely to most

    1. Burrow
    2. Tua
    3. Love
    4. Herbert

Only reason why I give it any credence is it’s from Beasley who had the Flores stuff when everybody else had Richard from Dallas as our next HC

I do question where any news comes from right now if we’re not purposefully putting it out there. Facilities closed. Not really getting any more research on prospects done. Any smoke coming out is likely our staff talking to people from home, and I doubt anyone in the know is saying anything of substance

I feel like at least with Love I'm looking at an unfinished raw talent. Risky for sure and the floor is really low but there's some upside to it. I feel like I know exactly what Herbert is.

The way this always works is teams trade up to get the guy they want at QB. The bears did it with Trubisky, bills with EJ Manuel, the list goes on. I wouldnt say it’s a lock we will trade up for a QB, but given history, given our assets- the overwhelming odds on favorite scenario to play out is we move up to get the QB the front office believes in, whoever that may be.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Winston if he is cheap. I at least know he's capable of scoring and so there's potential there. I live Cam but if the Panthers are just walking away from him for Bridgewater Im pretty sure they know he's physically shot.

I'll be massively disappointed if we come out the first round without Tua, Burrow or maybe Love with the later pick though.

It’s like I watch a really good game from Herbert and then a watch a game vs Utah in the PAC 12 title game and they had a pretty good defense and Herbert looks so meh despite them winning

I don't see any way we don't take a QB in the top 5. In todays NFL you get maybe 3-4 years to turn things around, if that, or you're fired. In order to do that, you need to secure a franchise QB ASAP. There are two in this draft imo and we have the picks to secure one of them. I know people are somewhat happy with Grier or Flores but that will change on a dime if we fuck this up and don't secure one of those two players. They will go from people being happy to on the hot seat in an instant and it will shorten that clock for sure.

In 2019 - No top 10 QB trades

In 2018 there were three trade ups in the top 10 for qbs - Jets, Bills, Cardinals.

Two in 2017 - Trubisky, Mahommes top 10, Watson first round

    One in 2016 - Wentz

    2015 the top 2 QBs went 1,2

2014 no top 10 trades for QB but two later first round trades

2013 - Top 10 of the draft was an abortion. Bills traded up for Manuel at 16

    2012 - Washington traded up for RG3

So yeah, I think the odds are pretty high that one way or another Tua doesn't make it to 5.

I’ll go on record as saying I don’t think Herbert is a bad prospect, just not as good as burrow or tua. If the club decides Herbert is their guy, I can at least feel good knowing that Grier has been doing homework on him for 2+ years now. I’ll get behind whatever we do, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it

On another note, I can’t stand the “it would be stupid to take Tua in the top 5” and the “Tua is injury prone, not a good pick” crowd, also being the “things are lining up for Tua to slide into a spot the patriots can trade up to get him! ZOMG Belichick is a genius”

    fuck you.

One big issue I have with Herbert is accuracy. His completion percentage is nice, but it's misleading in my viewing. Too often receivers are having to break stride to make the catch.

It’s very misleading, watching these games he got a ton of passing yards from screen passes

his arm will look great one play and atrocious the next

And i know he has shit receivers but a lot of the misses are on him

If we offer the Texans all their Tunsil picks back for Watson, does that moron O'Brien pull the trigger?

Normally I'd say of course not and it should be a pipe dream but after watching the Texans masterfully destroy a contending roster maybe there's a chance.
