per Don's scoop, RaRa committed to a staff last Wednesday, so that'd explain the surge in UNC predictions Also I'm sure it's not as black and white as this, but does look like the staff parted ways with Steele after he visited South Carolina early March, was apparently a silent commit and planned to go public on his birthday Thursday. In my esteemed opinion I'm guessing the staff just likes their other options better and used this visit outrage as an excuse to cut ties.
if guys are even somewhat close in terms of talent, this staff is always going with the in state guy. steele had the chance but any ounce of wavering meant day day was getting the spot especially since day day is so close with so many in state guys
I know. They are both technically instate guys is my point. All of these kids know each other from combines and such so I don’t think that’s an advantage for one over the other.
My two cents and this has literally nothing to do with football. I took my freshman player down to South Carolina JR day (kid is 6’7, 235- he will be at minimum a 4 star based off athletic ability). Anyway I saw this Steele kid down there, had literally no idea who he was. I only knew they wanted him because the DC was with him the entire day. His attitude turned me off. Maybe the kid was tired or ready to go back home, but his body language and just demeanor all day was just off.
they may know each other but it doenst mean steele/day day are equally close to a lot of our guys. day day is part of the 85 boys or whatever the youths are into nowadays and keeping him in the fold is probably more important than steele especially since they're comparable as prospects
any hope with yall that breon pass takes the offer? seems like he is begging for any opportunity to play power 5 basketball but even tho he's been offered by state, he seems to have zero interest would love for roy to give him a PWO spot but i feel like someone eventually offers him a la ky bowman
I Saw this on Facebook today... 17 years ago today, North Carolina hired Roy Williams. Since then, North Carolina has… 9 ACC reg season titles (1st in ACC) 45 NCAA Tourney wins (1st in D-I) 5 Final Fours (T-1st in D-I) 4 National Title Game app (1st in D-I) 3 National Titles (T-1st in D-I)
watching the '01 Peach Bowl from the UNC marathon they've got going on today, still one of my favorite teams ever, front 7 was just out of control
You guys might have already stumbled across this but the 2017 E8 game between UNC and UK is on YouTube that UK team was sneaky good - won the sec tourney and was riding a 14 game win streak coming in. Had Bam/Fox/Monk and gave us a hell of a game. winner of this game probably wins the whole thing given the way the bracket shook out.
wouldn't even call them sneaky good they were just flat out elite, our match up with them in Vegas earlier in the year is probably the best regular season game from the last few years
Probably so; sneaky good isn’t the right word. More like crazy that we both got stuck in the same regional and Gonzaga got a one seed. I also don’t think people felt like that team was on the same level as the KAT or Wall/cousins UK team so relatively they may be underlooked
i just don’t have any confidence he will ever be healthy enough to do so. opens up a spot for this year and next and maybe at a smaller school he gets more of a chance. win win
damn that's a bummer, especially with how close he and Harris are do think his knee issues would've ruined any chance he had of being a consistent contributor but would've rooted like hell for him
As someone who didn’t watch a ton of this season after December, Harris and Francis kind of blended together to me. I remember liking one a little more than the other and I think it was Francis but I honestly can’t be certain.
harris is the much better of the two and looked the part since day 1 if he’s healthy, he’s our starting 2 next year. if jerry is healthy, i am not sure he’s even the backup 1 next year
Yeah I think I may have had them confused. The guy I liked was stroking threes in the limited minutes I watched; Harris was 3/7, Francis was 4/20. Who knows?
Harris had that breakout game against UCLA where he hit a few 3's, guessing that's what you're remembering
kerwin walton announcement moves into day 3 seems like he wants unc and his parents want minnesota and they’re at an impasse Cornelius Suttree tagging you since you asked in the recruitment thread and i don’t feel like finding it
I can't get over that thread going 167 pages and counting in a day and a half Social distancing has everyone all antsy in their pantsy
ben and low hinting it’s gonna be us. riverdale says he’s heard positive albeit skeptical stuff the fish jokes are so lame and i want this shit to be over already so i never have to open that thread again
Was already Roy's best class top to bottom imo, this definitely clinches it though So much offensive talent
so right now we're looking at something like Love/Davis/Leaky Davis/Walton/Platek (Harris if healthy) Leaky/Puff/Walton Brooks/ guessing Kessler with his shooting stroke Bacot/Sharpe putting Bacot as the starter but I'm ridiculously high on Sharpe and think he overtakes Mando, which isn't meant to be a slight at all obviously growing pains and what not, but so much deeper in talent here
To me this was the big takeaway as I've been watching some of Roy's earlier teams during quarantine. All of those groups had such depth of talent and experience. I know we were hamstrung with injuries this year, but to really drive home the point I will share the 3rd/4th big men on the great teams I remember: 17: Bradley/Maye 16: Hicks/Maye 12: McAdoo/Hubert 09: Davis/Zeller
is it sad that upon a quick glance I keep thinking that "Kendall & Meatball..." titled thread says Kendall Marshall?
Mack was on 247's podcast the other day mostly telling stories we've all heard before so noting too earth shattering, but when asked about what early enrollees had impressed him in the short time this spring he said KBJ had come in and gotten up to 300 pounds
