not fun, my only advice is get those 3rd-6th quotes, Angie's List is your friend. From there take the low quote and ask the preferred vendor to match it, etc.
Well shit, that was our next big project to get quotes for. Exactly the same 6' Cedar for 175' of fence and was hoping it'd cost about $4k.
Do you have to do Cedar? That's more expensive than just treated pine...which you could stain later. $35 a foot def seems high.
Bought our house from some old old people who didn’t do anything for at least 20 years from a decor perspective. It absolutely amazed me how fucking heavy wallpaper is. Most of the house came off in nice satisfying chunks, but not the kitchen. Took me longer to do the kitchen than every other room in the house combined.
My garage fridge died last week. Luckily there was enough room in the inside fridge/freezer to fit everything. I’m not a super handy guy and appliance repair is my kryptonite. Normally I would just say fuck it, but I decided to give it a try with the extra pandemic time. I watched a couple YouTube videos over the weekend, ordered a multimeter to check some shit out, and, after a very professional appliance repair inspection with my new multimeter, determined the problem was a failed main control board. The part showed up today and I just swapped it out. Guess who has a working garage fridge now (until something else breaks)? This guy
These type of repairs where you start out having no clue what youre doing, and end up fixing it are so satisfying
Does anybody want to recommend a “smart” front door? Really just want to be able to lock and unlock with my phone so I can avoid leaving a key out for repair people. I guess the keypad is cool too. Don’t care about a camera already have those.
just a guess, there is probably a smart lock with explicit or very close compatibility/interoperability with your existing system/platform.
I have the August Smart Lock and love it. Though kinda wish at times I had the keypad or one with the keypad.
Yea don't leave your phone and keys inside, wife did that and almost had to climb in a second story window to get in. Luckily she realized she could use the app on her watch...
My brother has the August and likes it. I’ve used it to go over and take care of his dog when he’s been out of town
I think I'm going to rebuild part of my deck. Anyone, in OKC or other, know the best place to buy deck lumber?
Haven’t been in here in a while. Dumb question, but how difficult is it to replace outdoor screens on windows? A few of mine have gotten dislodged/fasteners have broken to the point where I think they need to be replaced. How much would someone charge to replace 3-4 standard sized window screens? A few of my blinds have also started to fade to a darker color at the top so I’m thinking that has to do with dust getting through the window/screens at the top part as well. Thanks.
Are you looking to rescreen yourself (not that hard really) or actually replace the screen and frames?
My new home will be a google home and I'll eventually get the Next x Yale lock. Connects to google, you can unlock by google assistant, it has a keypad, & can unlock/lock/check status with your phone
that's the one going for about $280 on amazon. i'm leaning that way already. mainly because i already have a Nest thermostat and I like the idea of integrating them.
depends on what other parts of smart home tech you already have. I have basically everything Alexa, lights, locks, thermostat through Wink hub, so it made sense for me to go with the Schlage that works on z wave. It’s got all that functionality: lock/unlock, codes for guests, etc. The lock is nice looking too with the light up key pad.
It's actually 249 if you order straight from google. My house has nests, so probably bet to keep the same ecosystem and just get a google mini, google doorbell (because ring is fascist), etc
Geography, size, and finish schedule all affect cost, along with a multitude of other variables. At least narrow it down to posters in your area (if applicable) and ask for a sq/ft cost. Don't know where you are but Degausser and UncleJesse have pretty recent/current builds.
Also, don't burn your house down, but in the event your house does burn down, go by a home that is already built. Do not build a home.
I was told in North Alabama around $100 a square foot but it ended up being $130 a square foot. Fuck me, right?
