Man ownership is really catching heat for the furlough and taking advantage of the UK unemployment package
Only clicked on Liverpool reddit recently and am confused about the controversy. LFC furlough's workers, so they get 80% of their normal pay through government programs. And LFC is making up the other 20%. And in England this is considered controversial? Because the owners of Liverpool are billionaires? I'm losing my fucking mind. Her Majesty's Government should sort out catastrophes. Not the random benevolence of rich guys.
I'm all for dragging billionaires through the streets. But clutching your pearls about a billion dollar corporation taking advantage of tax money makes you a simp beyond reach. Did you know the Cossacks work for the Czar?
The controversy is that it’s designed to help small businesses that would possibly have to go out of business without the help and a few clubs that will show huge profits are taking advantage of it
Do you take issue with the large corporations in America having access to money from our stimulus package?
large British corps will be doing the furloughs too. Tons of other prem clubs will be doing it too. Do I wish they didn’t do it, of course. Is it being blown out of proportion because it’s Liverpool, yes. If they didn’t want prem clubs doing it then they shouldn’t have allowed them to do it under the rules of the stimulus. City must be ecstatic that they can get some good PR at the expense of Liverpool.
Not if they are using it to pay their workers instead of just firing them. If the company is after billions they might should be restructured. The government's job is to provide a social safety net, not yelling a billionaires to do the right thing and acting outraged if they don't
I’m happy City is doing the right thing but not going to pretend that makes them good guys. Overblown because LFC? Not everyone is out to get LFC. You do realize it was getting lots of attention that Newcastle and Tottenham were doing it right?
Its different with Liverpool because you can't be the socialist club for 120 years and then do this. It definitely hurts the brand and makes the owners look like phonies.
The reason is been a bigger story for Liverpool FC is because of Liverpool the city. It’s a bigger story for the supporters than it is for others because of how Liverpool views itself as a more progressive and frankly socialist and anti gov city.
You have Jordan Henderson out here trying to raise millions of pounds out of his and other players pockets to feed people and then the billionare owners and like sure I'll take some money that is supposed to be earmarked for those struggling in England.
FSG reversing course - will no longer rely on Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/an...tter-from-peter-moore-to-liverpool-supporters
Thats been going on for what 18 months? Mane is 28, at some point they'll sell him but it won't be this summer. Next summer perhaps.
No way we're going to spend big on a center back with the way Gomez has been playing. I think they'll replace Lovren with someone like Ben White who is on loan at Leeds from Brighton
Sevilla CB. Hasn’t been there long as he moved from Nantes last year. He’s been about the level of Gomez rating wise over the past 4 seasons I’d think he has a big release clause
Do we have an opinion on Coutinho to Chelsea? I'm pretty meh on it, but I'm still concerned about what it would be if he returns to his LFC form.
I loved Coutinho. I rather he stayed aboard. It would kill me to see him flourish somewhere in England. I still root for the guy. He made a mistake and followed his dream.
Same with Mo. When do we sell either o both in an effort to stay young up front with guys like Sancho and timo?
Fair but I don’t think you go from a 97 and whatever 90+ point season would have been this years to we need to sell our best players the next.
It depends what you’re replacing them with and what you think the price difference would be selling earlier before the decline really starts. For example if you sell one earlier at a higher fee and sign Sancho; you may be a little worse off next season but what have you done for yourself by keeping Sancho away from United?
Bad isn’t close to the right word. Being another year older, I doubt we can keep up the 2 year pace to being a 100+ point team. I wonder what the sweet spot is for keeping the roster at this elite level, and that involves selling these older stars for a lot of $ and replacing them with younger ones.
