Like I imagine with a bunch of occupations, people here aren’t missing work or anything unless they physically can’t get out of bed or they get turned away by the nurse for having a fever. They aren’t concerned about coughing their heads off, they’re coming to work and staying until someone makes them leave which isn’t going to happen.
im sure it’s bad in plenty of places but our former governor paid a consulting firm almost $80 million to build an unworkable website so people would give up on applying for unemployment to artificially keep the unemployment numbers down. Our new governor never fixed it. They are trying to fix it but it’s a disaster. My mom works in the cruise industry so she was laid off earlier than almost anyone and her and 15 former colleagues all applied over a month ago and no one has been approved yet. It took some 2 weeks or more to get through. her friend in Arizona applied 2 weeks after her and already got a check as an example of a normal functioning state.
That’s all that popped up on my twitter feed. These schools are just asset management companies that provide some super inflated education on the side. Maybe they should use their billions of dollars (it’s probably trillions) to handle the current situation.
But there is no way wearing a mask would make you less safe... Clearly they just wanted to stop us from going on Amazon and buying all of them.
Went to the website and it found my trump bucks. Said I should set up direct deposit so I can get it sooner. Will do that when I get home from work.
It’s listed on the Harris county website. http://publichealth.harriscountytx.gov/Resources/2019-Novel-Coronavirus Edit: I see where it says surrounding counties as well
Can echo this sentiment - been trying to help my sister since restaurants were shut down in Florida and she still hasn’t been able to get through on the website
Some notes today from Mike DeWine's press conference: 1) Daily data will always be fuzzy as it represents what was reported yesterday, not what happened yesterday. They even receive "new" death notifications when it occurred a week or two ago. 2) Effort ongoing to trace the data back to the actual event and likely date of infection onset. 3) Delayed/deferred health care (what the moratorium on elective procedures is now referred to) is primarily driven by shortages of PPE and secondarily by potential hospital overload. 4) Ohio Hospital Association being charged with developing a plan to reintroduce delayed/deferred health procedures. 5) I gather masks are going to be part of our future for a long time. I think #4 is probably the easiest first step to open things back up. That and then allowing outdoor employment.
I can't emphasize enough the level of respect, and admiration I have for these Nurses, leaving home to risk their lives to help New York out.. It's amazing.
I'm sorry. I know I just posted something similar, but these heroes need to be recognized. In the face of all the negative going on, these nurses, some from across the country are the bright shining light in all of this chaos.
Why the fuck does it matter? I wouldn’t call installing solar panels more essential to the economy than most other construction jobs. like wtf is a clean energy worker.
A Texas state judge ruled Wednesday that voters who are concerned about the safety of in-person voting amid the coronavirus are eligible for mail-in voting. The ruling was a win for the Texas Democratic Party, who sued election officials ahead of the state's July 14 primary runoff in order to expand alternative polling options, though the decision is likely to be appealed.
First off, I will never relax. Secondly, it just comes off as special interest fluff piece to me. They claim there’s roughly 3 million (3MM for my finance heads) clean energy workers in the US by essentially claiming any HVAC tech, electrician, etc are clean energy workers while showcasing renewable energy stuff. It’s dumb.
Is anyone else watching the daily circus? I swear Trump’s hair has gone white overnight. That can’t be natural. It’s like someone switched the cap colors and he used the wrong tinted Halloween hairspray.
If I could afford a Tesla, I’d be reluctant to get one because I fear one day Musk will just close up shop and move to who knows where.
He’s the agricultural secretary and he’s wearing a stark white tie with black tractors on it. That’s awesome. I now think all cabinet secretaries should have to wear ties which reflect their departments. Could you imagine Steve Mnuchin in a top half black/bottom half red tie with green dollar bills or Mark Esper wearing a camouflage tie with gray jets, tanks, and ships on it?
he didn't say China has zero blame for their handling of the coronavirus. He says that it had nothing to do with Trump's response. Which is correct.
