Uncle Nearest just opened a distillery about 45 minutes from me. I used to work in the town, but I left before it opened. May have to go check it out post-Rona
Sour mash just means they use an already used mash to start the fermentation of a new mash to make the bourbon. Doesn't mean it's going to taste sour.
Got pinged about Knob Creek 12 year, I thought I remember good reviews on here about this. Is this a curbside pickup for $50?
There is a number printed on the top of the bottle just under the cork. 1 and 2 are excellent. Have a bottle of Batch 4 I will be opening soon.
Speaking of which, have a store pick to compare to regular one tomorrow. I drank larceny for a good while before and it's my fav all day
My buddy cracked it last night and I took a sip. I greatly enjoyed it but I was pretty lit and can't tell you anything about it except that I enjoyed it in that moment. I plan to try it again this weekend and will report back. Happy to send a taster if you want? Though I need to buy some bottles as I used all of mine for Secret Santa (bryix ). Also, probably make the same offer to my Dad for the michter's sour mash. Daniel Ocean ?
This is a different one. But yeah, I still love the OG Balvenie for me. Bought a new bottle about a week or two before all of this started going down.
I haven’t dove nearly as far into scotches as I have bourbon, but the Balvenie is my favorite Scotch distillery with Glenmorangie a close second
Brother gave me this for my birthday and told me to start respecting the rye.. and I do. It’s delicious
Anybody interested in trading some samples? Didn’t get any BTAC in ‘19, would love to try the Stagg or WLW. I have 4RLE ‘19 to offer.
this is hilarious and I’ll tell you why. I literally live on the other side of Culver. There is a running/bike path that is right there that leads to the beach and I run it or bike it all the time. I’ve live in my current place for about 12 years and have never heard of this place. I looked it up and realized how close it was and was shocked. I decided to to go check it out and they were sold out of the Blantons but they said they get it. They had some Dickles and I’ve seen that mentioned itt. He said they also had Weller 107 and 12 (or is it 112?) Seems like a good place. They also had the EH Taylor I’ve been looking for. The dickel’s was 49 is that a good price? Can’t wait to have money and be able to go to there. Thanks for the suggestion glad I found that place.
That was my thought. I was all in until I saw 6 years but Blanton's is pretty SFTB is 6-8 years also, so not sure what to think.
I’ve heard good things, and that’s $10 less expensive than I’ve seen it before. This is my first bottle tough so I’ll let you know when I open it.
which Dickel, the BiB? It's overpriced but not crazy. It is hard to find it at list nowadays. I also think it is overrated.
Assuming it’s their BiB, I see it from $36-50. You should definitely sample it from a store restaurant or from someone here. It really embodies the “Flintstone chewable vitamins” flavor note that Dickel is known for. I can’t get past it and won’t buy that bottle ever again.
