Smart call. I love Laver Cup, but in the event we're playing tennis in the fall, it's a luxury event taking up a week on the calendar that actual events will need.
Seen this match so many times, still jarring to see someone power Roger around the court with these ground strokes.
Every once in a while Del Porto will hit a baseline rally forehand harder than I’ve ever seen before. It’s glorious. Also, it’s insane to think that Roger was going for his sixth straight US Open title and now it’s 2020 and he’s never one another one.
Dustin Brown the headliner. https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2020/04/live-matches-return-tennis-channel-weekend/88596/
If I had to guess if Berrettini was ranked closer to 8th or 88th, I would have chose 88th before I read that tweet. Insane.
Definitely crazy how quick he shot up. Semifinals at the US Open and at Shanghai Masters doing a lot of the heavy lifting there rankings wise.
West Palm is one of the counties NOT included the state's "reopen" plans as Broward, Miami, and WPB were all more heavily affected than anywhere else in the state. Apparently that doesn't matter but interesting nonetheless.
Actual tennis at the top of the hour on TC. Schedule appears to be: Tommy Paul - Hubert Hurkacz Reilly Opelka - Miomir Kecmamovic Paul - Opelka Berrettini and Sandgren had to pull out with injuries.
Nope. Had a chair umpire wearing a mask and one guy outside the court calling service in/out. Otherwise, called their own lines, picked up their own balls (each guy had their own designated set of balls) and picked up their own towel.
I hope the towel thing stays gone and it probably will have to. Ball kids speed up the game obviously but that will come back eventually.
This is going to be so awesome. Kenin, Bibi, Sloane, Madi, Vika, Anisimova, Monica Puig, Ajla Tomjanovic, Ali Riske, Genie, Shelby Rogers, Jen Brady, Leylah Fernandez.
Might also mean we’re cancelled for any sort of traditional tennis as we knew it. Not that it’s any revelation just saying he may know the open is cancelled or a few other bigger events he has committed to.
Novack recently said he might be skipping the us open to focus on clay. My guess is he knows its probably canceled can't really see him not playing the us open he's basically guaranteed to win.
And the Open is going to happen, though there is still some doubt as to whether some of the top players show.
