https://www.sportbusiness.com/news/youtube-drops-fox-rsns-yes-network-from-service/ Sinclair confirmed it has reached an agreement with YouTube TV for 19 of 21 Fox RSNs, but not Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket, and did not as well for the YES Network. Such a deal where part, but not all, of the network offerings are not part of a carriage agreement such as this is somewhat unusual within US sports media.
So 19 of 21 RSNs stayed, and 3 total channels left. After the dust settles, looks like the only YTTV'ers in 2 markets (LA and NYC) are affected. I'll let them quantify the impact of losing the channel and associated rights/coverage.
Kind of an egg on YTTVs face though, as I believe they were a primary sponsor of the World Series and users can't even watch two (or more?) of its teams.
Well, if the stations wanted consumers to watch their product then they shouldn't try to charge so much!
"The agreement between Google and Sinclair will keep the 19 RSNs on YouTube TV through the end of the 2020 Major League Baseball season, according to a source familiar with the pact." Will be interesting seeing what the live sports market is and how this negotiation goes before next season.
I don’t feel like HBO Max is getting enough hype. It’s easily going to be the best streaming service on the market from a quality standpoint
It looks like they dropped SportsTimeOhio outside of Cleveland/Akron/Canton. It appears I'm keeping it, but a lot of Ohioans are going to lose 157 Indians games.
Weird, my buddy has YT TV and fox sports Florida is not available but fox sports sun is both are pretty much the same channel, but the various teams play on either. Lightning on sun, panthers on FSFL. Rays on FSFL marlins on Sun
Portrait of a Lady on Fire is making an early debut on streaming and coming to Hulu tonight at midnight
Epix free for 30 days for YouTube TV customers. Look at the Epix library. Well thanks but seems pretty worthless.
Cut the cable at the beginning of the month because without sports there was no point. $170 came off the bill. Signed up for Sling Orange for $20 to be able to watch the draft and the Last Dance. Gonna cancel after a month.
Got an email yesterday saying that HBO Now is streaming some shows, Sopranos, The Wire, VEEP, etc... for free.
That’s been going on for over two weeks now. Ends May 15 I believe. Also includes some documentaries and some movies, but the movie selection seems pretty weak to me. Took advantage of it to watch Silicon Valley and The Wire. Just started the Sopranos yesterday
kinda funny seeing people talk about losing the regional sports channels in early march, and now it doesn't even matter that they made a deal. like i said, i just got an email yesterday, so i was unaware. didn't see it posted here, so i thought some people might like the info.
Well turns out the free HBO selection is expiring end of the month now instead of May 15. Guess I’ll just stop watching the Sopranos for now since I’m not going to have time to finish it. On the HBO note, HBO Max debuts on Memorial Day for $15 a month.
I got an email from Directv last week saying that NFL ticket Max will be free for the 2020 season.....lets just hope it happens.
YouTube TV adding more Viacom channels. Wonder how much this will add to the cost? https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/07/media/viacomcbs-youtube-tv/index.html
Getting married this summer and moving from my apt into the new house next week. A local ISP has a monopoly on the area and I'm currently paying $70 per month for 50mbps with no contract. Their pricing scale is so backwards. Last month I was told they had special rates but because I previously had 100mbps, I wasn't eligible for a discounted price w/ 12 month agreement at a slower speed. I could do 100mbps for $99 or 50mbps for $70. I've been with them so long and worked my way up over the last few years from 25mbps with a "special rate" every time my 12/mo agreement was up that I'm basically being penalized now for being a long term customer. Asked them yesterday what it would cost to transfer my service and they said $80. Told them to forget that, just cancel it for $0. Called right back with my fiancée's info and was quoted new service at the house with 50mbps for $20 a month and $20 activation. It's insane.
I'm now three months into my internet only plan with Comcast, at first I highly regretted dumping cable and not being able to watch the news as a pandemic was exploding. But honestly I don't miss it, social media/local channels filled the news space and then I've continued to watch Netflix, Hulu, Prime as much as before. I think this going to work long term.
What do you pay for the internet from Comcast? They are being some ultra cock suckers with me currently. Only offering me a $299 a month internet only plan. If I want something different I need to talk to someone in retention and I haven’t been able to contact anyone in that department for a week.
So we canceled TV/phone and kept just internet with Charter Spectrum last week. After 6 years of bundled services and very reliable internet, all weekend our internet has been down off and on. Maybe just a coincidence, but has anyone else had similar issues when they downgraded to just internet?
No and I don’t have Charter (got Comcast) but the internet has gone out a few times since the coronavirus stuff hit the fan and that had been a fairly rare event the last few years. Too many people using it heavily all at the same time is overloading it a bit, I’m guessing.
Poked around in it. Doesn’t seem like a massive upgrade from HBO Go/Now, but it’s day one. There’s a non-zero chance old Loony Tunes cartoons are my new background noise
I'm considering going with just internet when I move next month. Is anyone rocking a tuner/antennae (with plex, perhaps?) for channels or is the best route to get on a tv streaming platform?
