Been a few years since I got to Ashville but I couldn't convince my group to stop in there last time we were there. I was disappointed.
jumbo jets is soooooo hazy and delightful. only one i've gotten into yet. extremely well balanced for my taste.
i just want to get back to houston to eat at the original ninfa again, I love Tex mex and that was the best I ever had. Up here we suck at it.
Very heavy on the peanuts so if you're into that you should like it. One of my favorite Bottle Logic stouts. My local place has a good relationship with them so tons of their stuff cycles through.
I live in an apartment, the refinished counter top has worn off in the 5 years I have lived in the place revealing an awesome light blue. Many people have told me how jealous they are of the combination.
Raspberry tea ipa. Brewed with 2 types of tea leaves, lemondrop, motueka, lactose, and conditioned with fresh raspberries.
I've had a couple tea beers. One I liked more than the other for sure. Mint tea sour was not my jams, but I'm generally not big on mint tea anyway. I really don't like jalapeño beers, not because of the spice, but because almost every pepper beer (outside of stouts) taste like a bite of bell pepper more than spicy. And I don't hate bell peppers at all, it's just not a flavor I like in my beers. I once ordered an oregano ipa from Flyway. I wanted to be mad about it, but it was exactly as advertised, I'm not sure what else I expected. I ended up not hating it by the end, but I'd definitely not order it again. Good novelty.
I'm with you on pepper beers generally speaking. There's a local brewery (Fate) that makes a cream ale with Hatch chiles that is actually quite good though.
I’ve been thinking about making a trip down there and checking out that place. I live up by desert ridge and usually go to Craft Beer Quick Stop and Craft Beer Hop Stop.
So I've been out of the national beer game for the last 5 years or so. Only been drinking local. Quarantine is about to change my stance on that. What are some breweries/beers that I need to try? I legit don't know any new breweries in the last 5+ years outside of the ones in Chicago and the big name ones.
From my turning point haul: Thank you turning point. Thank you for your 10.2% alcohol triple IPAs that get me drunk by 7 every night
See above post. In the DFW area, the best are Celestial and Turning Point by a wide margin. Stouts, NEIPAs, and cloudy sours, with the occasional west coast ipa or Pilsner. Tupps has come on strong of late and is sold in stores.
From Wisconsin I like Third Space, 3 Sheep's, Karben 4, and Hinterland. By no means exhaustive but what I've like from what I've tried. Hinterland and 3 Sheep's can be found in Chicago
Drinking a Frost Lush right now... god damn this is good shit. Them and Aslin have been sending a ton of cans out into distro since covid hit hard, which is wonderful
California guys - what are some local craft breweries I may not know about that I should be supporting right now? Had some Brouwerji West Popfuji last weekend that was really good Corky Bucek
Just from my trip last year, I'd say Mumford, Monkish, Gunwhale, Bruery (seen rumors they aren't doing well regardless of COVID), Bottle Logic, Green Cheek. Obviously no shortage of them out there depending on where you are and who's shipping and distribution.
Where you located? What styles do you like? That would help figure out what you can get for the most part at a local store. As others have said Casa Agria, Green Cheek, Monkish, Bottle Logic, Beachwood, Highland Park, are among some of my favorites.
