I can't see a Center at all considering they usually handle all the protection calls in this Offense and well trusting a rookie to do thst and snap to MVP with no actual offseason and possibly a shortened TC seems really not ideal. Ldt is going nowhere and the dude we got from the Texans last year looked good at LG until his knee exploded in Nashville. I could see a developmental dude at the end possibly though. They just need a MLB and the rest can be picks for next year as far as I'm concerned.
Agree with the LB need. Really, really hoped either Murray or Queen would drop. Not sure how reliable this third tier of guys is, but if Baun or Gay drop I could see that.
Big fan of the CEH selection. Been watching some of his tape today and his lateral quickness is insane. His ability to catch the ball is going to bring so much to the table. LOL at the PFF article saying that they don't like the pick because it means we will run the ball more and that means less Pat throws :jenniferlawrenceyeahokgif: LB and CB should be the main focus here on Day 2. Would also accept some OL help
If CEH is productive as Kareem Hunt was in this offense, it is worth the first round pick. Kareem averaged 14.5 yards per catch in 2018 before he was cut. That's absurd for a RB. For reference, Tyreek averaged 14.8 last season. Sure, RBs are more replaceable than any other position, but that doesn't mean there isn't value in getting a good one.
I like drafting a RB late first round. It’s late enough to where if he’s productive, you can keep him until you have to pay him, let him walk, and not feel too bad about it.
The top guys definitely had some warts. I didn't have Queen on my fake imaginary board, but I would of liked Murray if he fell to 32. He didn't so oh well. I think they have great options at MLB from today all the way to their last pick. Willie Gay is super athletic, the Wyoming LB looks really promising and the Ohio State/LSU options look solid. Troy Dye will be out there and the dude is coverage plus. Lots of good options. The Chiefs absolutely would have lept in front of Baltimore if they liked Queen and I don't think they did a lot.
And in the same token, 1st-round picks carry that extra year of control. So even if some thought we could have traded back and gotten him later he also wouldn't carry that 5th year option. Queen would have been a target but I'm kind of glad we didn't move up for him. I've seen several LSU posters predicting him to bust. Never good when your own fan base thinks you're overrated.
Neither of the last 2 picks will probably mean shit on this team so gonna go ahead and summarize this class. CEH and Willie Gay filled the two needs I felt they actually had going into this draft. Niang is a nice developmental fattie for Pattie. I think with the last two pics I'd probably cash in on the stupid deep WR class and maybe gamble with Bryce Hall. By the 4th round who gives a fuck if his ankle never heals it's a Day 3 pick.
Agreed. If Hall falls to us in round 4 then they’d be dumb not to do it with his upside and the need at corner.
Great for the team. He’s stuck through some shit and was a great dude, but paying the least important position on this type of team that much was going to hurt.
$60,000 per punt in 2019 seems pretty steep imo. Love ya Dustin but let's grab someone off a practice squad for the league minimum
Bashaud shouldn't have consented when the officer asked to search his phone, but he was probably high and a little drunk, still unfortunate.
When I saw the tweet in the middle of the night about charges of MJ possession and an open container in the car, I was like "who cares." I bet most of us have been guilty of some/all of those violations in the past. But based on that police report, yikes. Listen to Cris Carter dude, you always have to have a fall guy when you are doing shit like dealing.
Sounds like he had two potential fall guys and let that slip out of his hands. Guess BoPete is gonna get a little more run
Published: April 30, 2020 at 11:45 a.m. Chiefs exercise QB Patrick Mahomes' fifth-year option Adam Maya NFL.com The Chiefs ensured Patrick Mahomes will be in Kansas City through the 2021 season. The only question is how much money he'll be making. The Super Bowl MVP had his fifth-year option exercised, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The move was a formality with the deadline just a few days away. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach noted earlier this week that locking up Mahomes long-term is a priority this offseason. Rapoport previously reported a new deal could net Mahomes up to $40 million per season. It's safe to say Mahomes has made good on being the No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 draft. After sitting for nearly his entire rookie year, he's posted two of the best consecutive campaigns from a young quarterback since Dan Marino. Mahomes was league MVP in his first full season, this after posting 50 touchdowns and 5,097 yards. His numbers dipped in 2019 as he fought through a knee injury, but it's a mere footnote after leading the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl title in 50 years. Pretty good ROI on a rookie deal.
Probably not going to go well for Breeland. https://www.tmz.com/2020/05/01/bashaud-breeland-cop-arrest-video-gun-kansas-city-chiefs-nfl/
The cop had zero backbone. If I didn’t know how it ended I would have expected Breeland to drive away.
I’d rather have kept Ogbah around, but checking the stats we get the same production for half price. That’s good I guess.
Scrolled past LIV on my DVR and decided to stay up until 1AM reliving the magic. That was neat. Pat Mahomes GOAT and it won’t be close by the time he’s done.
I keep hearing it’s a percent deal (like 20% of the Cap every year) but I haven’t seen that anywhere.
