Rangers have a conditional first based on whoever ends up higher of Carolina and Toronto. I’m sure there are terms acceptable to all three teams there somewhere
They will have to have the draft sooner rather than later. The league isn’t sure if or when they can resume so waiting for the end of the season could lead to a fall draft. Teams have to make decisions on players contracts at all levels ( pros and amateurs ) as well as front office personnel like scouts.
If they aren’t going to finish the regular season, then they need to expand the playoff. That’s a simple solution. If they are only doing 4 cities, have each division in a city, play a mini playoff in each city with the winner of each advancing to the final 4.
After scrolling through nightly tank and Abdelkader stat line updates think it’s only fair that Detroit gets 5th
I don’t want to hear from the peanut gallery in Jersey. We had to watch your bullshit trap ruin the game for twenty years.
24 teams. Each division has 6 teams except the Pacific. They don’t deserve 6 so let them have 5 and move the NYR there. The remaining teams go to the lottery.
i just want the next season to start with everything in place and safe. I don’t want games being played without fans, I don’t want a playoff that is not the real playoffs...I don’t want a mini camp before playing 6 games to get into the playoffs. just cut the crap, cancel the rest of the season, play less games next year and start later to give organizations the time to adjust and let’s get rolling full speed. Cut your losses, let’s not try to patch something together that will feel like a money grab. it sucks for the teams in the running, it sucks because players will take a hit money wise but I see no other way to go about this. It’s funny how quick the nhl was to cancel the season when the owners could not agree with the nhlpa on some terms but now they gotta do whatever they can to draw a plan in the sand to start making some money again.
And I forgot, for social distancing purposes I don’t think it would be safe for lafreniere to go play anywhere else but in his hometown of Montreal. after that you just do the normal lottery
If the Rangers get a top 10 pick or a playoff spot, I’ll be happy. If they get neither, I probably won’t be. Hockey coming back is a net positive either way though as long as it’s actually done responsibly.
i kind of disagree with this but I can see where you are coming from. People are starving for sports and we are all glued to our TVs I just hate how it would play out. I just want a real season next year, trying to do both will affect the quality of the product on the ice
I put a heavy emphasis on the word “responsibly” in my post, from mostly a health standpoint but quality of play certainly weighs in as well. As long as the playoffs are quality - both this season and next - I think it’s fine. Everyone having a slow start to next season is still better than no hockey though imo.
My opinion is pretty clear and won’t change but there is no doubt that I would watch the playoffs even in September or July. I can see how it’s a big opportunity also, we saw it with the nfl draft
my bad, you meant the Montreal island...but in minor hockey if you come from st-eustache you play for the miles-îles because there is actually a bunch of small islands in the suburbs of mtl and it’s called miles îles as a region.
NHL games being played are good for the players, teams, league, and fans. People want something to watch again. They want something to look forward to. This is the NHLs chance to sell their game, make their payers money, and give America and Canada some enjoyment. Playing these games, crowd or not, is an enormous win.
If you’re not from the island, you’re from the suburbs though. He’s not from AN off island suburb, he’s just from the suburbs.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Eustache,_Quebec Saint-Eustache is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in western Quebec, Canada, west of Montreal on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles. It is located 35 km (22 mi) northwest of Montreal.
I said it back then and got absolutely abused on this site but that chara hit was so fucking dirty, he knew exactly what he was doing. If you think a guy who has played hockey professionally for ten years(back then) didn’t know exactly what he was doing in this situation I don’t know what to tell you no suspension, nothing....it’s ridiculous.
He even suggested that Patches dove head first and full speed into the turnbuckle. Chara is a piece of shit, is overrated, and should have more than a dozen suspensions.
Yeah. I was there that game and you could see it coming, see that Chara had plenty of time to do the right thing. Just a fucking piece of shit. He’s gotten away with so much throughout his career.
Watching the 2010 gold medal game and it’s crazy that the Americans got that far when 4/6 on D was Tim Gleason, Jack and Erik Johnson, and Brooks Orpik
ryan Whitney... Miller made up for all of them that tournament, he was insane and almost won the gold for the us even though they were completely outmatched by canada
Canada should’ve beat the US 6-0. Their roster was insane and so many of their players were at the peak of their prime. How many players from the US roster would’ve made team Canada and would would they replace? Suter replacing Boyle Kane replacing Heatley
yep, Kane was the only player that really scared me, he was so good and clutch at that time. And Canada’s goaltending was a big question mark
I said it earlier in the thread it doesn’t make sense to come back and play. But if they do then that’s the best scenario. They will decide what they will do with the draft in the next few days.
