That's at worst a C/C-. They got a pro bowl WR and a pro bowl KR/PR, along with LB who might start four straight years (even though Davis has sucked for much of it) and a useful ST LB in Reeves-Maybin. That's not good, but it's also not an F.
Agnew will get cut in TC, Davis will not be resigned, only player they will keep after the rookie contracts expire is Golladay. How’s that draft in the C range?
Because Golladay is a top 10 WR. Most teams don’t get but 1-3 guys on second deals from any draft. If you don’t get quantity at least get quality.
The Chiefs only have two guys still on their roster from the 2017 draft, and one of them is a guy with six career sacks. The other is Mahomes. What grade do you give them? If you give them an A+ (which you should) wouldn’t that make the 2017 class from Detroit a C?
Because Golladay alone disqualifies it from being an F. You can't fail a draft when you selected one of the 10 best WRs in the league with a third round pick. And I think you'd be giving out a lot of Fs around the league if the standard is "how many players are you keeping beyond their first contract."
I love the draft as much as anyone but we all need to realize that the draft is more about hitting home runs than it is singles and doubles. It doesn’t excuse some of the moves Quinn makes, but that’s why I don’t live and die with every pick we make
Davis was one of the worst LB in the league last year and Tabor was somehow even more of a bust. We also had a huge need at RB and complete lack of pass rush and could have drafted Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara or TJ Watt with those picks. Getting Golladay disqualifies that draft from being an F, but using the top 2 picks on Davis and Tabor with great players available at our biggest needs at the time disqualify it from being any more than C+ if you ask me. I think it has to be in the C-/D+ range.
I mean Davis had a PFF grade of 40.4 last year (84/89), 53.6 run defense grade (62/92) and a 32.6 coverage grade. He was a liability.
He is worse than replacement level in coverage and basically everything beside blitzing, which he is only above average to average at. Teams would pick on him in the pass game, throwing at whoever he was guarding.
I agree with WR and PR/KR, but Davis starting at LB by default doesn't move the grade up any. He is shitty and that nobody was better than him is a terrible failing all the way around.
Only reason Davis started is because he was drafted in round 1. If he were 5th rounder, he would have been cut long time ago.
Schedule release is at 8 PM Thursday. It sounds like we might see games against AFC teams scheduled for weeks 2-5 so when the season is inevitably delayed, those games can be canceled.
I think its pretty apparent sports are going to be happening and probably soon, but like you said possibly (probably) without fans. Hell, Germany is already restarting their soccer season. Wouldn't shocked to see NHL and MLB at least planning on returning if not playing games in next 30-45 days
I could see the Lions starting 7-4 and losing final 5 to be 7-9. Although 6-10 is probably more accurate guess.
Would be such a boss move if he said fuck you guys and demanded a trade now. Would respect the hell out of him.
Pete Prisco just put out a top 100 players list and there’s not a single lion. It’s a shitty list, but still. Win now!
