Yea we have one in our neighborhood in Lake Claire too. Bought an owl caller that Ive had moderate success interacting with. They seem to be all over our forests between Candler Park, the Olmstead linear parks, and Lullwater Preserve.
I forgot all about that happening and it scared the shit out of me. I thought a plane was about to come through my house.
So dumb to have everyone go outside at the same fucking time when we are supposed to be social distancing.
I have two that show up about every other day this spring above my house on the line of the highlands and Morningside. In the 9ish years I’ve been in the Highlands I’ve always heard them but they’ve never been so out in the open in daylight like this. Watched a one snatch a squirrel and then flyover to another owl with it.
We don't wear them hiking or walking but we keep them with us in case we go into a store or other areas where there's some level of density
Walking to a couple different stores, people inside weren't much different. Passed by Piedmont and it looked like a normal summer day with nothing wrong.
I think it has to do with wearing one when you are walking by people. At least by me it can be open, but there are plenty of areas where you have to walk by people a lot closer than you want.
New Mexican spot (called Lazy Llama I think) that replaced HobNob was just packed out the door with people waiting to get a table. Placed was slammed. No social distancing at all going on.
That’s just a lazy name for a Mexican restaurant. Llamas are native to the Andes in South America which isn’t close to Mexico.
Drove by senor patron and it was ridiculous. Gf lives next to taqueria del sol in west midtown and had to be 50-100 people standing outside but they social distanced from what I could tell.
I mean HobNob made it there and they were nothing special. Same people running it. A Mexican restaurant where girls are already use to going to brunch, it’ll somehow be fine.
Got Margs and "mexican' from El Myriachi yesterday. Only to go, everyone was practicing proper social distancing. It was pretty busy
Hobnob sucked and I'm certain Lazy Llama will too. We need something better in that spot. I'd love to see a sports bar round out the neighborhood options
A lot of people were at Tuza yesterday, but everyone seemed to be doing a pretty good job of maintaining distance.
It did, but not for the white girl wasted crowd. Seems like that area is a wasteland of things that don't last. Not enough morningsiders that want to drink and too far from Midtown density
What are your thoughts on Smiths? I want to like it, but it's just depressingly dark in there all the time. Would not kill them to turn on a light or two.
Wife and I live pretty close by to them as well. It was the perfect walking distance for us to go with our dog - far enough away to wear him out when we got home but with the break for food it wasn't so far that he was stressed out by the walk.
If you see a man on Howard wine drunk on the front porch, please tell him you know his son from the internet.
I like it for what it is, a neighborhood dive bar where good shows randomly happen from time to time. It's a dump but it's our dump damnit.
It's also a nightmare to park there which I think limits the number of people who go. It didn't help that a vastly superior spot opened right next door
Yeah there's never good parking near it unless you start to count the almost always packed Ansley mall parking lot
Where they will boot your ass in a hurry on the wrong day. If we don't walk we park in morningside across the street for Varuni. I'm curious to see if they make it now that Grana is open and has a sick rooftop bar
What's up gang? Rented a cabin this weekend for the GF and I up in Blue Ridge. Anyone been up there, have suggestions for things to do? Was going to float the Cartecay but looks like it's going to be too cold.
I'm guessing a lot of stuff will be closed or limited. You have a bunch of good hikes if they've opened it up, that's probably your best bet
Southern Belle reopened for takeout (I guess a few weeks ago). Haven't had Southern Belle yet, but Joey Ward is top notch. Getting it tomorrow, though the chicken isn't on the menu. Will check back. https://www.ajc.com/entertainment/dining/southern-belle-sfare-clever-fun/fC8o2V8e4wAiKX4ZKYCi8L
Anyone have any recs on small bookstores in town that are still operating? I’m definitely not giving Amazon my money but I don’t really want to order from Barnes and Noble either.
