IW was a dream come true for all us comic book nerds and the MCU’s version of Empire. Endgame had the impossible burden of following it up, not disappointing, and wrapping up 20 movies while also making a good standalone movie.
IW had better pacing, the cool moments of characters meeting for the first time, and the unique aspect of presenting a large portion of the movie from the villain's PoV and the heroes losing at the end. It's definitely the better stand alone movie. Last 30 min of End Game is probably the best (top 3 at least) part of the MCU though.
Endgame doesn't work as a stand-alone movie but thankfully they didn't try to make it one. I'm in the IW>EG camp but let's be real, I just watch both back to back and treat them as one experience.
IW was awesome, but I just could never get into the Gamora/Quill/Thanos stuff in the middle. Once I get past that part, the last hour or so of IW is every bit as good (possibly better) than EG. The action sequences in Wakanda and Titan might be the best long action/fight sequence in the MCU.
The action sequences in Wakanda and Titan are some of the best power flexes in the MCU. Particularly for Thor, Dr. Strange, Thanos, and Wanda.
https://mondoshop.com/blogs/news/music-weekly-marvels-infinity-saga-assembled NEW RELEASES AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR & AVENGERS: ENDGAME + BOX SET 6XLP Featuring the complete soundtracks to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Music by Alan Silvestri. Artwork by Matt Taylor. Pressed on 6x 180 Gram "Infinity Stone" vinyl and housed in a web store-exclusive slipcase. Expected to ship in June 2020. Ships worldwide. $90. Mondo, in conjunction with Marvel Music / Hollywood Records, is proud to present Alan Silvestri's complete original scores to 2018's AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and 2019's AVENGERS: ENDGAME, available as individual 3XLP sets, or in one massive 6XLP Box Set. The importance of Alan Silvestri's four decades of scoring films cannot be understated. His iconic theme for THE AVENGERS (2012) is just one of his many landmark achievements in the world of film music. His scores for the epic conclusions to the Infinity Saga – AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: ENDGAME – are a master class in fantasy and science fiction film compositions. His score for the penultimate chapter of the Infinity Saga, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, is full of triumphant bombastic beats and solemn down notes – perfect for one of the most shockingly tragic films of the genre. For AVENGERS: ENDGAME, Silvestri's score is brilliantly meditative, sweeping in scope, and features quite possibly one of the most beloved tracks of the genre, "Portals.” We are honored to present them both in their complete format on vinyl for the first time. Featuring all-new original artwork by Matt Taylor, housed inside of an exclusive slipcase, the score for each film is housed in their own tri-fold jacket, pressed on 180 Gram "Infinity Stone" vinyl. Slipcase and "Infinity Stone" vinyl colors are exclusive to the box set. Also available as individual OSTs, pressed on 3x 180 Gram Black Vinyl. $45 each.
i feel your pain as well because, i mean, it's not a competition but i've been through a lot. my father killed my mother... and i had to kill my father, and that was hard, probably even harder than having to kill a sister...plus i came out with both of my eyes...
Killing a Sunday afternoon with Winter Soldier, because why not. The Lumerian Star scene with GSP so money.
Quick question, in Infinity War when Corvus Glaive is killed in Wakanda Vision drops the glaive on the ground and it’s presumably left there, so are we going to see Corvus Glaive or at the very least someone is going to use the Glaive in Black Panther 2?
There are so many directions they can go in that movie. Along with the Glaive, there is a ton of remnants from that battle. Are they bringing Killmonger back? Flashbacks? I hope they introduce Namor
I’ve always called him Sub-Mariner because that was his name in the Captain America and The Avengers arcade game
he’s just intimidated by this thread’s substantial knowledge, experience, and handsomeness we are gentle and welcoming, though
Is anyone reading any current comics line right now? Looking for recommendations Reading Jason Aaron’s Avengers right now. Really like it so far.
Have the marvel unlimited app on iPad and read that. So I'm like 6 months behind on whatever is going on with the current comics lines
Friendly reminder. Namor was Marvels first mutant character. User @Dirt predicted Fiege would use him to introduce mutants to the MCU like a decade ago.
i think I was around earlier than that. I got an official account when this Marvel thread started in ‘15. I know I’m a lurker but I didn’t realize it was that bad. I’ll try to be more active.
NSIAP and not completely MCU related, but Taika is going to co-write and direct a Star Wars film. https://www.starwars.com/news/taika-waititi-announce
I was rewatching Civil War last week with my boys. Caught something for the first time. When Zemo is talking to Panther and laying out the plan, he emphasized “dutiful son” at which point Panther realizes he’s been played and stops Zemo from shooting himself. I just wondered for the first time whether Zemo somehow new the secrets of Wakanda and the the Black Panther was the king’s son?
And T'Challa revealed himself as Black Panther during the first chase sequence. This is Marvel, outside of Peter Parker (until the end credits of Far from Home) there's pretty much no such thing as secret identities.
I think he was more in the moment acknowledging how they were both sons that felt a duty to get revenge for the deaths of their fathers (and obv wife and kids in Zemo’s case)
Watching this scene over and over again because of how well they depict complete defeat and dismay on Thanos's face when he turns the glove over, as opposed to the conceit just seconds prior.
Same, she hasn’t seen all of them and didn’t realize when I said im3 is terrible. She finally understands now.
