that's a pretty great list. will be interesting to see if jennifer carrol lasts longer than she did in her return in the last all-star competition
Getting Gillespie back is huge. Very excited to see him again. I've been enjoying Sasto's pasta instagram so hope he goes far. I had drinks at Jenn Carrol's new place in Philly and it was the worst cocktail of my life. Didn't end up eating there so can't say much about her food personally but yikes it still makes me mad how poor the bartenders were there.
She was running a place in DC that had really good food but left right around the time that fuckbag Isabella (who owned the restaurant) stopped paying his bills
Gregory I didn't notice but hes a monster. Damn this season better have great challenges because the talent level is insane.
like where Jen Carroll ties me to a bed and reviews my version of whipped cream? already done that, man
What an incredible first ep. Gregory is the powerhouse we've come to expect, but the question with him is how well he holds up at the end. Losing Joe Sasto first episode is insane -- that guy is pretty good. Kevin being bad makes me a bit nervous, I hope he hasn't lost his touch because I am honestly not very impressed with his food at Cold Beer (his newest restaurant). I am feeling somewhat confident in my fantasy team vs the GF after the first episode. Anyway, they don't count points after week 1, so if folks want to do a fantasy league I can set a 2nd one up. Mine: Hers:
Did not think Sasto was that great on his original season he skated by and could have been eliminated much earlier.
A great great episode to start the season. They finished filming, correct? Got nervous when I saw they were going to Italy this season
Fantasy Top Chef League UPDATE: And after week 2, Gin Bucket's Top Chef fantasy league team takes a commanding lead over his girlfriend's pathetic team. Spoiler: Team update after week 2 There's reason I picked Angelo last.
that final group on the chopping block are probably all the weakest links there did not understand why Jamie was brought back. He was not good on his original season. His restaurants are mediocre.
I was actually disappointed Lisa went instead of Mularkey. I always find myself cheering for her for some weird reason. Taking Melissa King in the 3rd round of my fantasy draft is really paying dividends right now.
Maybe for Kelsey, but I agree with steamengine -- Nini and Eric were the best imo, and I've watched all of these seasons within the last year, so memory of everyone is still fresh.
Nini got bounced because she sucked at front of house during restaurant week -- honestly a shitty way to go. She had been catching fire, winning and/or being a finalist in a lot of competitions up until that point. I agree Sara wasn't great. I honestly thought Eric was the best, he just made a mistake when he got to the top 3.
He also had himself at #1. He's below Stephanie imo... He's done well professionally, but not in this competition.
Editors fucked up by showing his list with crossed out names from appears to be next week in his confessional. Suckssss.
Kevin cooking southern food and running the show? I mean how in the hell did he fuck that up? Karen should have gone home though. She dropped food when she ran the first plate, spilled a glass of wine in a lady's lap, didn't timely then the first seating, and her one dish apparently was the worst one. It irritates me how these shows kind of fall into team leader of losing team automatically goes home or is on the block. Does anyone think Kevin hasn't been one of the top 7 throughout the competition over Karen?
Kevin was clearly better than Karen over the course of this competition but that concept was poorly executed and, given the constraints of Restaurant Wars, poorly conceived, and Kevin should have gone home for it.
Kevin was clearly one of the best this season, but you go into the week knowing what you can and can’t do, he did a bad job this week and deserved to go home
He fucked up no doubt but still don't think he was worse than Karen. He fucked up mainly by letting everyone do an "interpretation" of his concept when Gregory micromanaged his team to make sure it was cohesive. Kevin did win last chance kitchen though. Sounds like he only has to win once more there to be back.
I like Kevin a lot but has to be tough that he had been planning that concept for years and everyone hated it.
I don’t think they hated the concept - it won the last week after all - it just really wasn’t well suited for Restaurant Wars
Fair. But they didnt really seem to like a restaurant modeled after 1 dish and 10 sides, which was his main idea I thought
I think he intended it to be family style but not just with one entree. But you're right showcasing it that way in restaurant wars was dumb as hell.
I hope he makes it back because he's so talented and seems like a great guy. Seems to be Melissa, Voltaggio, or Gregory's show to win now
