as long as the pole is straight i don't see why there would be an issue. you would take the base off and just bury the pole.

Both goals I have done in the past had enough room to adjust it and give you 10' while keeping a good bit buried.

ventilation question with summer bringing hot temps to Texas.

We have a 1 story house and an attached semi-insulated garage and a couple of roof turbine fans. The garage gets warm but I think I can create some airflow that might draw some of that warm air out.

I should take the attic cover/door off the manhole in the garage, so that rising warm air can escape the garage and be pulled out by our roof turbine fans... straightforward, right?

Where is your makeup air coming from? Is there any concern that you could be replacing warm air with hot air?

This was central to my theory. Would this action create a delta of more warm air in more vital places (on top of ceiling insulation) whereby the AC works harder than it did before? Idk. Also, what do you mean by 'makeup air'? Here is a little more...

The escaping air would be the latent air in the garage (sealed, other than when temporarily opened) that is warmed by sunlight and exterior warmer temps.

When you take air out of a space, it has to be replaced by air from somewhere else. Where is that air coming from?

If your garage is insulated and you’re expelling, say 85 degree air, but you’re replacing it with 90 degree air from outside then it doesn’t really make sense.

Unless I’m missing something, your AC system has nothing to do with this situation.

I guess that makes sense re absolute volume of air. Where would escaping warm air be replenished from in a closed garage? If it's outside air (likely warmer) seeping through the cracks, then you're right it might not make a difference.

I mentioned AC because net new heat in the attic that the insulation cannot wholly...insulate from, would then, in theory, warm the house.

Am I the only one who finds cutting in notches for door hinges into doors and the frames a complete pain in the ass?

Trying to change out my shitty looking brass hinges (2/door) to bronze hinges (3/door). Been using a dremel but think I need to switch to a chisel. And struggling stabilize the door during all of this. Not as quick as I thought it would be.

Anyone use liquid bacteria as routine maintenance on drains with an AC return line? The plumber just recommended that we do that, but didn't give a specific product. I saw bioclean and green gobbler are popular. Thoughts?

Had internet hooked up yesterday and none of the coaxials in my house seem to work. Either Comcast fucked up or the person who wired my house fucked up.

Either way I'm fucked bc I've maxed out my 15gb of tethering data and running of 600kbs trying to WFH

we made a door holder just cause we had to do 4 doors and standing them up while working on them is a total pain in the ass.

just get two sets of 2 x 4s about a foot long and nail them standing up to a piece of plywood and space them about 2 inches apart. it makes two forks that the door just snugs right into. it takes about 10 minutes and is a total game changer.

Ours didn't work when Spectrum dropped off the equipment. They had to come back out and figured out the line to the house was bad, so they had to redo it all.

The line to the house is brand new. It's currently laying across the ground and run to my house. I'd have to guess the guy "tested" the actual line the ran to the house. Maybe he missed something :idk:

On the outside of the house there are two lines into the house. Guy ran the line from the pole, then split the line and connected both lines outside of the house that run into the house.

Those two lines split somewhere and end at a coaxial in my basement, one in my living room where the TV should go, on in the master and one in the larger guest bedroom upstairs. None of them worked. I'm not exactly sure where the splits are. I couldn't find a smart panel in my house.

I think I tried hooking my modem up directly from the line from the house, and it still wouldn't work. That's how we knew they needed to replace the line.

We have 1 line in (goes to the basement), then we have a split running off that, but we don't have coax built into the wall. We have wires running along the basement ceiling, fed into the floor of the rooms.

Comcast had to come back out when we moved in our new place because an amplifier had gone bad where they connected to the house. We have internet and YTTV so only needed one line. Previous owners had coax running to every room for cable tv. The amplifier used to split that many lines went bad and wiped out all the connections. He removed it and no problems since.

Does anyone have any advice on cleaning a deeply stained blue flagstone patio? The previous owner of our house apparently was allergic to power washers. It currently looks like this:

    But should look like this:

Power washing doesn't cut it. Algae removers have done exactly dick. Scrubbing with a steel brush sort of works. Finally I've resorted to using a drill with a wire cup brush attachment which was decently effective, but is going to take FOR-EV-ER. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, this is a brand new house so they are all in the walls. It's an idea to run the extension cord outside and try to plug the line from the pole into the modem to see if that works. I might try that later. I'd at least have internet

Yeah guessing one of the splitters isn't connected right and that you called and Comcast said they've got a signal going to the line to your house and if not using Comcast modem/router that they've identified whatever you're using.

I haven’t resorted to acid or oxygen bleach yet, but as a fellow pool owner I have some muriatic acid on hand. I’ll try that next if I can figure out a way to keep it from draining into my grass.

If a TSP solution doesn't help (check small area first) then your hellbound for a masonry cleaner or muriatic acid treatment. Bear in mind that acids are not something to f around with and are potentially dangerous. Calling a professional is probably the best alternative to elbow grease and time techniques. Muriatic acid has to be stored in special places as the vapors leaking out of the jug will eat nearby metals, so I don't fool with it.
