Those that can do it and confidently follow protocol are. A lot are on the sideline bc of concerns over being able to open up safely with their layout. A lot are only opening up their outside dine in areas and some are even creating temporary outdoor dining
Rather than focusing on the propriety of a new state house, the media covering this issue should publicize that the state could permissibly use the funds to pay hospital workers, first responders, families who lost a loved one, and even small businesses. Pretty sure some UAB hospital workers have taken a pay cut. https://home.treasury.gov/system/files/136/Coronavirus-Relief-Fund-Frequently-Asked-Questions.pdf
There's a snapchat video circulating of a kid with swastikas and "Heil" written on his back in sharpie. The girl who posted it is a Mountain Brook 11th grader, apparently. Some of the kids are Mountain Brook students, others apparently are not. It's probably about to become national news.
Turning to Mississippi and saying "Here, hold Georgia's beer and ours too" is the most Alabama thing ever.
I do appreciate the irony that out of all of the places in Alabama that could embarrass the state at the national level it's Mtn Brook that'll be responsible this time.
It's on the private "What's Happening in Mountain Brook" facebook page. I can't share it. Several posters said that they have let the Anti-Defamation League know, so it's only a matter of time.
Is the kid passed out? A bit confused by the “written on his back in sharpie.” Like is he a Jewish kid and this was done unwillingly?
nah he's def not passed out but it's hard to tell if the kid knew what was gonna be written on his back or if it was just a really really dumb prank by the other kids in the vid (i was added to that group in astonishing time)
I googled the name, the female kicker from the football team shared it? This is ripe for a clickbait spot on national news
I wish it was to where I could share the video. He seems to be a willing participant, but the video is only like 6 seconds long.
The 186th post came in saying "I bet y'all were all perfect children who never did something without thinking. Kids do stupid things all the time. It's up to the parents to teach them right or wrong not a Facebook group mob." Fortunately, he got blasted.
I did kind of laugh at this comment: "This is disgusting on its face, and they also are not distancing."
Yalls breweries open yet? Very popular one here in ATLANTA is open for business, have reduced seating and capacity but plenty of people sitting at 6 person tables
Drove to hoover and back today and so many parking lots are full as well as outdoor dining areas. Lots of grey haired customers too. It’s insane.
I am dreading going back to work. Luckily my company has smart owners and sales are good so there's no pressure to come back to the office anytime soon. They know if you're working or not. Also, about to list our house in "Crestline Gardens" if anyone knows anyone willing to overpay for a pretty nice house in a terrible school district.
Half this thread is in overpriced homes in Bham schools you toot; enjoy moving to suburbia and don’t let the gentrified early 20th century door hit your ass on the way out.
it's been a good neighborhood but it's not like it's diverse. Just a bunch of super old or super young whites. If you wanted the "city" experience you are better off looking closer into Crestwood or Avondale, even though those are about as gentrified as they come. I would be interested to hear any of posters' experiences with Birmingham City Schools. Most folks I know either move out to Vestavia/MB/Hoover or send their kids to private schools. My wife is from Vestavia so that has kind of always been our plan.
You aren’t wrong I’m just giving you shit. Crestwood checking in. Avondale elementary is fine from what I’ve heard but after that most folks either make the private school dive or move. I’m living the bachelor life so not concerned about it now
I have heard mostly good things about Avondale. I'm sure it would be fine. We would just rather start them at the same place they finish. My kids are 3 and 1 now so I still got some time. Just want to get out now while I can make some money on this house before the housing market possibly tanks.
Whats your go to? My first time having the Reuben, and not sure why honestly. In house corned beef was fucking awesome and cut thicc
i stupidly wrote off crestwood coffee for a period when i moved over here cause of a shitty coffee experience but their food is very very good and underrated
I’ve only had muffins from them. Their coffee is fine and they sell red bike beans which I use at home.
