How are you to get a push if you don’t show up for TV? WWE does a ton of stupid shit but to give them a hard time over this is a bit much. They did the same thing with the Cruiserweight Title. Nobody cried about that dudes push being killed.
He’s a fantastic chicken shit heel in the upper mid card. Where is his correct role? As the #1 heel in the world title picture?
WWE is promising a major announcement on NXT tonight. My guess is they are going to re open Full Sail to a limited capacity of fans
he could be massive as an underdog face. honestly he’s so good they could do almost anything they wanted with him.
I think Vince saw the response from UFC this weekend and he potentially realizes the benefits from being the first one to present something in front of an audience. I’m sure Trump has been in his ear about it, so I think he will feel emboldened to make a splash.
I don’t disagree with you on what he could pull off. I’m really enjoying his run right now as he’s so good/entertaining in the role he has.
I saw UFC did some 700k plus buys on ESPN+. People are starving for real sport action. I don’t think WWE is considered real sport action. A crowd would be beyond helpful to bring back part if not most of its TV viewers but I don’t see it growing his audience. I do agree Vince is probably under immense pressure to do something. Railings are in a free fall, he’s tinkering with the idea of a brand switch because of pressure from the networks. Making NXT the show that brings crowds first does seem odd but I guess let the 3rd brand get the heat if any first before allowing RAW and Smackdown in two weeks to have a crowd.
My understanding is Smackdown for the next two weeks and Raw next week are taped already. NXT is live tonight and then they said they would tape next week. Curious if they scrap that and bring in a crowd next week and stay live.
The end result is you still can have him return as the uncrown champion. I just think it’s a overreaction because it’s cool and easy to shit on WWE but we shall see as this plays out.
Opportunity missed. ESPN loves putting on those sports themed gender reveals and Vince loves being on ESPN
AEW women putting on some really good matches lately. I hate statlander’s gimmick but she’s super athletic. Baker is a great heel and Shida is amazing
Finally got around to the Undertaker Doc. It’s just the first episode but it’s great. Way more of Vince then I expected. And way more backstage stuff including getting medical injections. That man will die for Vince and the business.
I think AEW has done an OK job with storylines given the tough situation they are working under. Storyline wise it’s better then NXT and RAW and probably on par with Smackdown. I think after a slow start when the calendar turned to 2020 they started hitting a good stride and then the Rona hit.
yeah I wanna go back and see whatever clips they have of his run so far on youtube, think that's how I'll keep up with NXT/AEW for the most part for now
He’s not done much. He had his in ring debut last week and this week the promo. Add that to the beat down of Ciampa and the video preview and he looks to be pushed to the moon.
I like that AEW is leaning into the absurdness of all of this and kind of breaking the fourth wall wresting wise. WWE is trying to treat this as it's a regular show without people.
I just can't get over the hubris of Vince fucking Russo saying "You know what AEW--the most successful start up since WCW folded--needs to succeed? My failed ass"
seriously though, Bret/Owen in the cage has to be the least talked about elite level match in WWE history and it blows my mind, so damn good
those two put on some classics. Doesn’t hurt that most can relate to hating a family member/sibling at one point in life.
