Theres certain guys I just don’t like their swing, he was one so I sold him while I could. I have a couple gold players in my lineup because for whatever reason I hit well with them and I haven’t found a card I want yet to replace. Also just realized my phone was changing Didi to Gigi lol
i got so bored today i changed the rosters to make every astros player a 1 ovr and started a franchise to watch them lose 162 games
Makes me laugh how the good Astros players seem to be super cheap in DD just because no one wants them on their team.
84 JD Martinez - will probably be replaced soon but he’s got 82/109 contact and 88/109 power. Horrific D and speed though. 81 Tatis Jr - 77/80 contact and like 84 speed plus good fielding. Just really like his swing for whatever reason. 80 Garver - Really just got him because he was cheap and there’s not a great selection at catcher but he’s 88/90 power. He’s got 7 HR in 34 AB online for me though.
I have like 108K stubs saved up, but I’ve been busy with work so haven’t been able to play much. Jury is out on what I buy.
Just got my shit kicked in by a guy that was Gold level something. He had a ton of guys that aren't in the market. Mantle was on his bench.
I think you get Kluber at 99 bronze but he’s basically a glitch. They made sinkers so over powering he’s so hard to hit.
He pitched him 2 innings. Then Oswalt. Then Morton. 2 innings each iirc. I assume he does that every game so they are never tired. Idk how much you have to play to already be gold.
Yeah, whenever I see even a high silver I’m just like welp...Not all the time, but I think they usually try to do an OK job of matching you with a similar record/level/etc. I know there were some glitches to gain XP early in the game that finally got patched but yeah I think there’s a lot of people that are taking advantage of quarantine that’s for sure.
That’s how it goes for me too, I feel like if I win 3-4 in a row and level up on the ranked season timeline thing, next thing I know I’m facing like a full 99 twitch steamer or something.
i’m silver but i’ve only played on dd game and i suck ass i’ve played every team’s road to october except for the astros and it leveled me up
Yeah I have played a couple golds on DD and rolled them, and have also thought I’d have an easy game against like a 55 bronze and got smoked.
Willpépé also forgot to mention in my post about that event mode, I’m sure you’re aware now but what sucks is you have to use your roster but they usually have some special criteria, which if you don’t have a lot of those specific cards can suck. Just noticed this current event is based around switch hitters and “break out” cards.
Yeah possibly. I know I threw in kingman and nenn breakouts into my lineup for the xp. I did get that, which was cool. I think another mission is to get ten wins which is why that mode was tempting. Finally i seriously completed like ten assignments while playing online. I got snell and giolito so looking forward to using both.
Yeah, that’s the thing too, some of the missions at least for the Inning Programs overlap. Under “dailies” there’s usually 4 missions worth 2-6 program points and it’ll be something like “Get 4 runs online”, so let’s say you win 5-1. You knock that out + get a win for the “10 online wins” that’s worth like 25 or whatever. Also on dailies if it gives you something dumb like “Complete 15 innings with Tigers players” just hit square and you can get a new one.
Mine yesterday was get a save with a bronze player. I Yao faced when I saw that but while I was adjusting my team I threw Rosenthal in my pen. Fast forward we are in the 9th up 6-4. In comes Trevor, pops up first guy. Loads bases walking dudes with one out. Induced weak contact for two more pop ups. It was probably the most satisfying thing that happened yesterday, lol. I still can’t believe it, you know with those dudes you are like one millimeter away for having a pitch delivered square down the middle.
lol yeah, any bronze or silver I’m basically hitting square automatically. Especially pitcher ones. Like you said just a ticking time bomb before someone’s hitting one 450
lol first ranked game in awhile, facing a dude who’s worst player is an 87 Lindor. High silver with Oswalt throwing.
If you guys follow college baseball you’ll remember him, but there’s a prospect card for Brendan McKay, I got him for 10K stubs. He’s my 4th starter, but he’s a two way player so he can hit pretty well too (like high 70s contact). 87 overall.
Wtf...playing an online game, this dude paused it like 50 times probably used his whole bench/bullpen. It’s B9 and I’m up down 1 with two on....I go to pinch run and it just said I forfeited the game. What a joke.
Thats the only thing I can think of, but I probably made 2 pitching changes before that, so probably a combined 45 seconds of pause time. If I ran out of time before the dude who made possibly 19 changes, that pisses me off haha
Decided I'd play one game before bed tonight. Gold 97. Wtf? And what's with these higher guys all using one pitcher for one inning and then going to their ace in the 2nd? This guy started Schmidt and then brought in Kluber in the 2nd and left him in. Do SP lose less energy if they don't start? 3 straight guys have done this.
If I'm going to have to play gold dorks with 3 99's every game, I'm probably just not going to play anymore. Is the matchmaking broken?
I don’t think so which is dumb given how many guys are way better vs one of the other. TBH, I never run into these issues. I assume the pitching thing is something the high level guys do. I’d guess it’s just a way to somehow conserve energy. The energy thing is new this year, previously the game randomly selected your SP and I believe made it so it was 1 v 1, or 4 v 4 etc automatically, I didn’t mind this. Usually I’ve thought the matchmaking is good (Mostly), and Ive seen that opinion online as well. I think it factors your ranked season record/level, and also your teams’ attributes, plus I’d assume your XP level (bronze silver gold). If you notice on your teams attributes there’s a “rating mod”, I think that’s supposed to adjust based on your teams overall and your ranked season level. I am guessing what’s happening is you won some ranked season games early and your level advanced but since your team is all low/mid 90s its advancing more than normal. I know I’ve had times where I can win 4-5 in a row and all the sudden I’m facing golds. All that said I’m sure it’s just also a little case of luck of the draw like all online games are.
Two guesses. They are attempting to complete a challenge, daily or for a team. This also might mean they have a normal SP in their bullpen to meet another challenge like get 10 Ks with RP. The other guess is they don’t want to waste bullets on their SP. First inning see if you’re a guy who swings at anything. If you are there’s no reason to use an Ace. Let me tell you about my game yesterday. I got 99 Kluber a week or so ago and I hate using him offline, he’s just slow as shit. Online he’s a beast. I’m up 3-0 in the 9th, just cruising. Had 14 strike outs on 80 some pitches. Challenge, save a game with a gold player. Two Jeff McNeil errors later, both with two outs, we lost. Jeff will never see the field again as long as I’m the manager.
I did not realize he was 170k, when I pulled it I thought it was 17k. I opened 100 packs through two 75k purchases. I also got the digital edition, $99 or so, not sure how many were in there. My first pick of 50 I got Walker and Bregman. Second Yelich, John Franco and Lindor. Just from packs I get through the game I pulled Yates, Yelich and now Cole. I also thought I saw or read something that by collecting an entire division you get a player? If there is I cannot find it. I have AL Central complete and I will be able to chip away at the East now with Cole. I do not get how some guys are so cheap. Mookie and Sale specifically are both under 15k.
Yeah, if I remember right each team has a collection reward, so you get all 40 active guys from that team and you can cash it in for that team reward. Then you take those cards and get a division collection. There should be a tab at the top once you’re in DD “collect”, then under that there’s “collections” I believe. I think once you exchange these guys into a collection you can’t sell them though. And yeah there’s definitely some cheaper dudes, I think that’s the perk of them releasing new cards consistently...obviously as new guys come out the demand for them goes up, and old cards get lowered.
Ah shit I think I remember where this is now. It’s under the live collection or something like that where you have all the teams. Thanks.
Yeah that sounds right. Honestly half the battle of diamond dynasty is finding everything in the menu lol
I was like .500 before these last 3 games vs golds. I think I'm 14-17 now. All I can guess is it's matching up based on team overalls, not player record or player rating. If that's the case, that's dumb.
Before you play a RS season there’s that like timeline looking thing that goes from spring training to World Series, I think as you win you level up on that. That plays a big part in your matchup + your teams overall. I can’t remember if it resets every new “season” though.
Ranked season matchups are entirely based on team performance and mod rating. In short, there are a lot of people who have played a ton but aren’t any good online, or you won a bunch of games before running into these teams and are playing at a high level.
