https://marketplace.spp.org/pages/generation-mix Wind is making up 56% of generation for SPP right now. This is currently depressing the market to the point that they're paying to put their power on the grid and they're still making a profit because of the subsidies they get from the government.
Dixie alley has gotten a break the last couple of weeks. Looks like attention is back on the OG tornado alley
Hey lomcevak BrentTray i'm the dumbest luddite when it comes to understanding models and hodographs but a quick question. Why doesn't the HRRR give soundings and all the other ones do. Thanks.
y’all ever drive right next to a tornado? i’m thinking i might gave just now. right outside of vernon, tx. got pitch black all of a sudden and i couldn’t see shit. blew my car into the other lane and i couldn’t control it had to stop because i almost pissed my pants after that one
Gotcha. I prefer College of Dupage because I find it easier to navigate for an amateur but i've got both saved to my search bar so I can pop over there for HRRR soundings. Thanks.
I've been trying them out tonight and I like it the best of all 3 in these early stages. I'm self teaching and think i've learned a bunch.
we had an incredible northerly wind (75+ mph), followed by a very large line of storms heading due east, and now a heavy rainstorm heading northwest weather be drunk this weekend
Tornado confirmed just West of Columbus, OH. Sirens going and tornado warning until 5:30pm as storm comes east into Columbus area.
Hell yeah. First real bigger threat. Random, but it does crack me up how many chasers refuse to chase north of i80. They lament the lack of good events, and then refuse to chase up here. So many good supercell days up here
I mean shit, i can sit here from my house and watch at least half a dozen supercells a year form over the northern hills and move SE
Don't judge, have a new baby and I'm drinking for volume right now. Those shitty looking clouds have tried a few times to become more than they are, but alas.
Pbs/American experience documentary on Ted Fujita (creator of original f scale). I want to frame most of his maps
