Yeah she didn’t dispute a single thing that Dave and Erika have said lol. I’m gonna have to believe them and Alex on this one
I know nothing about this situation but would assume the video she just released would make barstool realize they need someone with more talent.
I only have a cliff notes understanding of what’s going on but playing the victim and saying “I love you guys” 17 times to your base is the classic cookie cutter response whenever someone knows they fucked up
I don’t know if I’m representative of their average listener, but my daily routine hasn’t changed hardly at all since the shutdown, and my PMT listens are way down. My listens to non-barstool pods are holding steady, with a slight dip on analytic-driven shows like Lowe Post and Dunc’d On. I think it’s a combo of pure sport-related pods being a hard follow right now, and the fact that the draw of PMT is in its ability to satirize and riff off mainstream sports media, so that derivative model doesn’t have a lot of Umph to it with the two primary catalysts at a standstill.
I don’t really follow Barstool as heavily as a lot of people, but I’m frankly shocked anyone who would be in this thread wouldn’t know anything about the Call Her Daddy podcast. It is one of the most popular podcasts out there right now (unfortunately, IMO), and I think it is pretty safe to say they have been the most controversial hire Barstool as made up to this point. Most of the fans of the site absolutely hate them, which obviously draws even more clicks than the opposite. There has been writing on the wall this was coming since CHD was acquired by Barstool, and it’s probably going to end up financially benefiting both parties after all is said and done.
Call Her Daddy didn’t exist to be acquired by barstool. They were hired to make it. They worked for barstool before the first episode dropped.
So they weren’t a popular podcast before Barstool bought them? Or did their podcast just use a different name? That’s not a baiting question. I honestly have no idea. I’m only aware of the firestorm they created basically from Day 1 after being acquired.
First off, just wanted to say that this bolded statement was way too ridiculous for multiple reasons. I actually enjoy some sportspods(like PMT/Chiclets) in times like these because the guys are still funny. I'm not looking for deep breakdowns of advanced stats or even general sports talk radio banter. Great stories, very quick wit, overall humorous tone, and general sports talk is what makes a pod I want to listen to.
iirc in the thing Dave put out a couple of days ago he said he contacted Alex (the blonde) about working for Barstool when all that was out was a couple minute Instagram video she made, it wasn’t until after the offer he realized Sofia was even involved or whatever.
You think it’s ridiculous that I like PMT for the satire and riffing, because you like it for its quick wit and humorous tone? Are we playing battle of the synonyms or something?
So Alex ended up signing the deal Pres offered on the rooftop or did he give her the 75% deal at a later point that she accepted?
Unless someone else funds them, I think Sofia and Alex stand to lose a lot of money if a lawsuit gets dragged out. Sofia more so than Alex as it sounds like she has absolutely no leg to stand on whereas Alex is at least looking to compromise.
Question for folks who follow this closely — Can CHD retain its status in the top 5 podcasts with Alex hosting and a new partner? Or do they need Sophia?
