Not at all. You guys are getting caught up on the literal blame. Yes, white men are overwhelmingly at fault for putting a racist misogynistic moron in the White House. My point is that I don't fault them as much because they built the racist patriarchy, so they're expected to act like they do. White women have chosen to align themselves with white men, throughout history I may add, even though as a group their interests aren't being represented. They've basically chosen racism and misogyny because they benefit from the system white men have built even as it discriminates against them. C'mon guys, there's an entire field of study on this stuff.
I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how this is a worthwhile argument to be had one way or another, even using the exceedingly low standard of “this is a message board”
Guys, this is actually all really simple. As my buddy from HS on Facebook has pointed out, this is what the government really fears:
THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE has spent nearly $400,000 buying 25,500 copies of Rep. DAN CRENSHAW’S (R-Texas) book “Fortitude” for donors. They used the book to entice Republicans to give money to the NRCC. https://www.politico.com/newsletter...ture-week-make-a-comeback-489287?cid=su_tw_pb shit cracks me up
Trump pulling us out of the Open Skies Treaty. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/21/politics/us-open-skies-arms-control-treaty/index.html
It always seems lie every other group gets blamed instead of white women. Blaming a group that 8% voted for trump instead of the one that went 53% for trump is what is ludicrous.
I can get behind a society where fair shakes and opportunities are available to all. The system as it is now allows for anyone in a position of power to flout the rules with that power. I’m just unsure what system, if any, allows for such a place to reign.
Structural reforms in favor of increasing democracy would be a start (removing the electoral college, eliminating the senate). Having a permanent special prosecutor law that allows the congress to investigate/prosecute the president and high ranking officials of the executive branch for corruption would be another (think Ken Starr - not Bob Mueller). Clear anti-corruption laws and enforcement so that people like Senator Menendez can’t continue to serve in office. Proportional representation to allow for more diverse political viewpoints to spring up in the political discussion. Barring that, at least switching everyone to ranked choice voting. Public funding of elections. An amendment that states explicitly businesses are not people and are therefore not entitled to unfettered speech and religious protections. Just off the top of my head.
2020 and we can't figure out how to have a fair election. Sweet. GOP spends all its time trying to figure out how to cheat and hide criminality.
Hahaha Romney was already like bro my state is red and people vote by mail. Trump is a sad embarrassment.
I can't imagine having a million dollars, but imagine having many of them and giving it to fucking Donald Trump We need a purge
I think I agree with everything you said except for, as I read it, the bit about proportional representation. I like everything else quite a bit. Edit: Sorry, for some reason with all the race talk earlier I thought you were talking about proportional representation by race. I apologize. I can agree that the current political format is a huge part of what allows that retention of power, so I would absolutely be behind more diverse viewpoints being introduced.
I’m not sure any other person who read my post jumped to that conclusion. But I’m glad you recognize that a leap to that conclusion was made on your part, so thanks for that, at least.
the anti-majoritarian mechanisms are one the most destructive but also the key to maintaining white power, until people feel like their vote will matter equally to some redneck in iowa, its real easy to depress turnout on that alone
several posters called you out for your ridiculous statement. I just wrote one just as crazy in order to illustrate how dumb your “why are racist assholes oppressing poc” take. It implies poc are causing the disenfranchisement they are victimized by.
