Just had this conversation with a friend. It stemmed from the conversation earlier and told him how great it is to be at the point where Dems remind black folks that they are the lesser of two evils so we have to support them. As I've gotten more involved in politics my leanings are far left of the mainstream Dem party and their cowardice bothers me. In an ideal world the would be an offshoot of the centrist wing dominating the Dem party and I would happier to put my support there.
Proportional representation is (admittedly) a big mental hurdle to get over as it forces a complete restructuring of our approach to districting and typically still results in having two major parties with smaller parties with less voice. I think there’s still a benefit to having those smaller voices as the extraction of concessions from the major parties becomes more public and accountable. In the US, for example, it could force the Democratic Party to make concessions to a Bernie/AOC/ Progressive Party to build a governing coalition rather than marginalize those voices within their party and proceed with a more centrist policy as a monolith.
The point I was getting at, as shown by my replies and the context therein, was the reasoning behind why people seek to disenfranchise others (hence the replies of seeking and retaining power). My reply to Truman was that it was, a little bit, a rhetorical question. I replied to Josey Wales by agreeing and stating that politicians as a generality are shit. Don’t be obtuse and inject my comments with what you want them to be. Thanks.
Yeah my bad, I viewed it the wrong way and amended my post. I agree with you completely on this issue, this two-party system only begets what we’ve seen these past few decades.
Lmao endangering lives to look cool and own the fucking msm/Libs. If you’re a racist or a greedy POS and you say you like trump then fuck you, whatever. But the people who say with a straight face “I think he’s the best president ever” should literally be hit in the mouth with a hammer immediately.
It’s not, though. My question is more about diagnosing the issue behind the person committing the act, not applying culpability to the victim of the act. You’re applying your view of conservatives onto me because I’m wanting to have an open-minded discussion about these topics. I know what I asked and the intention with which I asked it. You’re being presumptuous at best, willingly inflammatory at worst.
there are certain posters on here who I’ve read enough from to have beliefs about them. You’re one such poster. With that said if you’re post wasn’t what I read into it fine. I’ll let it go. I still believe what I do but I don’t want to bog the thread down with something that isn’t going to be resolved. edit. Unless you’re not the one who made the mud duck comment a while back. If it was You and You my bad but I am certain it was you.
So there was a terrorist attack at NAS Corpus Christi today and I don't recall seeing it posted anywhere
Here's something I wrote about it in some emails back in '08... I've been toying around with the idea of proportional representation(pr) coming to the United States. To be more specific, it would be a partial pr system. If you guys aren't familiar with the system, it's currently the system Germany uses to select their government. IIRC they have two houses like us. There's a "higher" house and a "lower" house just like our Senate and House of Reps. The idea behind partial pr is to get a diverse number of voices a chance to represent their ideas in the country's government. Unlike the two party system where more focused coalitions often get ignored because of the tendency and necessity of running on vague overarching platforms to win, this system allows for parties to become more diversified than "liberal" and "conservative." Now, you may ask, how would it work? We'd still have our normal elections but those elected would be a bit different. You'd have candidates running for the house like usual but you'd cut the number in half. This would require larger districts of course... Now, in order to make up that half that is missing, as part of the election you'd have multiple parties running nationwide on more focused platforms. The parties then get to select their reps based on the percentages they get in the election. As a result, more groups along the political spectrum get a voice. This also lessens the amount of partisan bickering and stalemate because coalitions are even more necessary to get anything done since it's not a majority/minority situation anymore.
I’m not sure what a mud duck is but I don’t post very often. I think this may be a case of mistaken identity.
if that’s the case my bad. Maybe it was you and you and that did cause me to misinterpret the intentions of your post . BTW it is a derogatory term used for a white woman that dates black men. Again my bad if not you.
Ya thought it was and said nahhh but def her. Honestly thought she washed out back around when we were finding out our President is a traitor. Guess not.

I was on a call with Peter King, a Republican congressman from Long Island, and a bunch of business owners. They were all whining against the unemployment because it meant that their slave labor employees had a choice to not come to work for what they were paying them. I was pretty disgusted.
The frustrating thing about not being an idiot or having a propaganda network... If a Dem was potus the GOP would completely ignore covid and hammer the admin for awful unemployment and GDP. Just absolutely focusing on the #s and saying “on your watch”. Then Fox would run that 247 and chuds would be convinced it was all the presidents fault.
AIOLI has been hampered by a broken ankle for years. Please ignore his incessant shitposting and uncontrollable rage
We have some posters from this school I believe. Used to have a ton of friends from there back in HS. I would bet its a pretty heavy Trump area of Tampa now with it being older suburbs that are no longer very wealthy compared to those around them.
