These WR are bullshit. Shaw said it best. When you're in competition you don't have everything line up for you. You have to wait your turn and give your best. So if it comes quick you have to be ready if it takes forever you have to be ready. These are vaunted gym PR
Agree, still think it’s cool to follow and great for the guys doing it. Next loglift comp will be great, so many guys putting up huge numbers.
So far I’ve ordered a rogue barbell. Vulcan flat bench, titan squat stand, and mats from tractor supply. Piece by piecing this home gym together when things randomly become available. Now just gotta get some plates. It’s not gonna be the nicest home gym, but it’ll get the job done I think.
Most of them suck. I've been looking for bumpers. I don't know if I want to wait for this to blow over.
I’ve got a detached shed with a pull up bar, jump rope, 20lb med ball, horse stall mats, and an embarrassingly sparse assortment of bumpers, dumbbells, and a (!) women’s power bar. It gets the job done for now.
So the wife and I are potentially looking at moving. There is 1 home that we looked at that needs a ton of work, BUT it has a finished detached garage that would be a perfect gym. And room to do sled pulls in the backyard. I'm not even crazy about the rest of the house, but that alone has me at least thinking about it...
been working on some knots in my upper back/shoulder area, and not long after working on the back i'll start getting a cramp and tightness in my pec directly opposite of the knots in my back. so then i have to spend some time working on my pec and loosening that up. i need to get a better understanding of what's going on here, but it reminded me of that video where ed coan is getting his shoulder adjusted and the doctor worked on his pecs forever before literally beating around on his back with a mallet. Spoiler
Anyone know of some resource where you can put in what equipment you have and get options for exercises for different body parts? I had a good workout plan that relied on a few machines/cables here and there, and I don’t have those in my garage gym.
Did 6 beltless conventional singles at 415 today then a 1X8 RDL at 365, singles were easy but weird as that's by far the heaviest I've ever done beltless. The RDL set was hell. Last day of this cycle and been sick so feels good. hensleya , any opinion on rot8handles.
I don't have any cables so would just be for landmine stuff. Seems like a high price for just that but really need more upper back accessories.
The gym I go to seems to have the biggest body building community here in town. The dudes never use the squat racks and the insta models (mostly from FSU) are in abundance and just absolute fire. I love it.
Any of you studs wear an Apple Watch/other tech when lifting? I know they have a ton of great tracking & monitoring capabilities but a lot seems geared towards cardio activities. I'm curious how it (or any 3rd party apps) do with strength training. Don't really want to drop $400 if its just going to end up being a glorified HR monitor.
I just got a Whoop tracker. I’ve only had it a week, but I love it. You don’t have to buy the strap, but you pay $30/month for the service. Tracks sleep, strain, heart rate, etc. It shows you how hard you’ve worked, how recovered you are, and how your heart rate recovers
Wear Apple Watch all day. Main thing for me is tracking calories burned but listen to music through it, answer/decline calls if not near my phone, and time my rest. Can do a lot more stuff through it but those are my main purposes. Have had for at least 18 months, well worth it for me.
Think I have series 3, not sure why you’d need anything more unless you’re 1 of those people that needs the latest
My gym is opening up on 6/1 Only 15 people at a time. 90 minute training block. Lots of disinfectant wipes. I can't buy fucking anything online, so thinking of going to the gym. Am I dumb?
If you’re young and healthy (and not living with someone you’d classify as “vulnerable”) then there’s certainly a case you can make for going back to the gym safely. It’s all about your assessment of the risk.
I’m holding out hope Rep/Titan/Rogue start getting more equipment in over the next 2 weeks. I’ve had my entire home gym ready to buy for weeks.
I've got some 45s and a dip bar on email alert since the end of april, hoping to hear something soon too
CDC said yesterday it’s not as contagious from surfaces so I think as long as they got decent air circulation and not on top of each other or wearing a mask you’ll be aight
This. Use common sense. Wipe down the equipment. Don't make out with strangers. Or at least take their temperature first...
