What do you mean by I can't install anything on the computer There is a piece of hardware for this exact function. It is called a KVM switch, and it allows your mouse keyboard to work on two different machines, switching between the two with just a flip of a switch. Try this on Amazon. IOGEAR 2-Port USB VGA Cable KVM Switch with Cables and Remote, GCS22U
I dropped my phone last week and the display got all fucked up. I bought a replacement LCD display for $80 (ifixit) and just successfully swapped it out. I feel like a million bucks for doing it myself.
Peripherals (like speakers, mouse, keyboard, and monitor) should all work fine without requiring software. Plug and play with maybe some driver updates depending on connection method.
Sharing monitors is simple but inelegant, just run cables to different inputs on the monitor. Some will auto switch inputs, some won’t. Like Detective said, a KVM switch or a USB hub with switchable outputs is the way to go. I personally use the Synergy software but if your work laptop is locked down you can’t do that.
I was actually just looking into this same thing Pharm I have a surface pro for work with a docking station at home with dual monitors. If I wanted to add a gaming machine and share the monitors, mouse, and keyboard would I be able to use that same thing you posted here? Is it just a single USB cord that goes from that device to each computer? edit or would I need this much more expensive part
What is the monitor(s) you would be using? I would need to know the model or inputs they have as well as the specific surface pro dock (b/c MS is petty and has some proprietary ones) before being absolute on yes/no, but almost definitely yes - as long as you have both 2 inputs, such as HDMI + DisplayPort, or VGA + HDMI. Some higher end monitors have a third input which would put you in an even better position. The KVM switch I shared is roughly $30 and meets 90% of configurations, though I manually switch the monitors myself via the input buttons and ignore the monitor switching (via VGA) on the KVM switch I shared above.
Not to be that guy but have you looked at Simplisafe? Thats what I put in my home when I bought it in the fall. Incredible customer service, no contract, $25/month, easy to install yourself. I have been very please with it. As for Vivint I believe they have some of the best tech/equipment but have awful customer service and do not help worth a shit once you get under contract...which is also expensive.
Anybody have Pixel Buds? If so, are they worth dropping $179 on? As somebody with a Pixel phone, is there any advantage to getting them over the Samsung Galaxy Buds for $50 less?
Drunkenly ordered the Jive minibuds the other night. Whenever they finally show up ill let you know if they are any good.
I'm not a headphones snob so $179 is too rich for my blood, but since I am team Google, I will eventually pick up a future version of these b/c they seem to have cool features and battery life will improve as the product matures next year etc. Also, they will supposedly get new features a la the "feature drops" that the Pixels get.
Working on an outdoor patio project. Going to finally buy a grill and will have a natural gas connection. Any recommendations? I’ve never owned a grill before.
Had a cheap weber NG 310 at my old house and a presumably more expensive built in lynx at the current one. The weber was much better
Concur on the Weber Genesis series. I finally have to replace mine after 10 years, and I admittedly didn't take great care of it.
I’ve had a genesis for 10 years now and you would be surprised what they will replace for free. Pretty much anything on the inside of the grill wears down they just ask for pictures. My FIL has an old discontinued version they have sent him parts for going on 15 years now.
Interesting. The problem is that the base is rusted out too. Probably just time to start fresh. Florida weather is hard on grills
They would definitely replace something that is rusted out. They replaced all my burn plates and grates one time. FIL has damn near 4 grills at this point. Also on the stuff you do need to purchase from them is very reasonable IMO. Shipping time and all. I will say I would have just started new like you if that was the case with my grill. If I didn't see him get almost an entire grill sent to him for virtually nothing I would have never called in.
concur with Willpépé just call them up. They replaced some stuff on mine for free and I bought replacements for what they didn’t. Damn near new grill at a cheap price
is there a specific reason for a "laptop" mouse modifier? I use logitech master series and would soundly recommend those, but its a full size and may not be what you mean by laptop sized - they may have a smaller version otoh
Have a Traeger and it's my favorite thing ever. Super easy to use and I can do quick burgers and dogs one day and smoke a couple pork shoulders the next. It's been a game changer for me. Don't think it gets hot enough for steaks but I'm a sous vide guy anyway. Also, I know there's been talk of them being low quality here in the past, customer service is fantastic. I basically blew my grill up through no fault of theirs and they sent me a new one.
I cooked two small 6 ounce filets on the little treager and they turned out fine. Not seared like a lot of people like but still pretty damn tasty.
I think the new ones get to like 500... seems plenty hot enough for a steak but I'm definitely a newbie to them.
You can certainly cook a steak on them and I have. That's just the main criticism from egg guys, they don't get as hot.
Gotcha. Everyone I know that swore they would never use one and got one now says they will never go back to their old ones.
It is atrocious this is why it is in my office no one goes in. My wife would never allow it on the main floor or where people can see
The issue with the more aesthetically pleasing ones is that most of these aren’t made for home use so home interior doorways are narrower than commercial ones. Finding one that either came with the arm rests off or having to home alter to remove arm rests than reattach was a limiting factor.
Have a link? I’d love to put one of these in my house. Did this one allow arm rests to come off or whatever so it could fit through a doorway?
Yeah this one came with both arm rests off. That was our issue and this was one of the few we found that was able to do it we’ve been looking to get one for a while since my wife’s back has been rough since she broke it a couple years ago. https://www.emassagechair.com/titan-pro-jupiter-xl-massage-chair.html
I also broke my back about 14 years ago, so something like this would be great- not sure if the wife will let me put it anywhere though
Damn man it’s rough for sure. I know chiro has helped a ton for my wife with a stretching a yoga regime but it still gets tight from time to time. Hoping this helps too. good luck!
Ordered a custom sectional from La-Z-boy, my wallet is significantly lighter than I expected going in.
