Flew (relatively) through my first 3 tn including a sub 8, before needing to swallow my pride and cool it for a min while beating abdominal cramping. But then was able to get right back going for another 4 @ 8:33. So, only two days off, (kinda) back to 7? I'm calling it a win. :crossedarms:
    Improvement is not linear. :crossedarms:

Also experimenting with coffee in my routine. I'm one of those folks that get hit hard by it as far as GI stuff goes, and I always used to shy away from it at a result. But lately I'm loving the way it... er... resets everything ... when I have it a couple of hours before getting out there.

Coffee before runs has been a game changer for me. Used to not do so and I don’t miss it at all. I feel so much more awake and running usually puts me over the top for the day. Can’t imagine having to run at night.

Went seven at ~8:30 a mile today, felt great. Going 15 tomorrow at a comfortable pace before I take a week off to prepare for marathon training. Excited for my body to get some rest but am going to miss the runs for sure.

Signed up for the Twin Cities Marathon literally three days before sports ended. Pretty insane. It's in early October, so who knows what'll happen. For a while I expected it to get canceled but now everything is opening up again. I'll probably end up doing a virtual run near my home.
Usually 9:45 - 10:00 miles. I focus a lot on my HR and try to keep it under 140 and as close to 130 as possible. Gonna try to stay closer to 10:00 tomorrow morning though.

2:27:44. Longest run since my marathon last October, felt awesome. HR averaged 137 so I was pleased with that as well.

Time to eat a lot of food and have various drinks that have alcohol in them.

did 5.5 in them today at 7:40. They felt great the whole time. I really like the addition of the react foam. I did have some minor heel slippage at first but I switched to a lace lock and that solved it. It’s only my first run in them and it was shorter but I would recommend these if you’ve liked previous Pegs. I will likely buy another pair once they hit discount.

A mediocre 6 turned into an “at least I went running 5”. I suffer from extreme depression and I’ve been finding it hard to get motivated to go run. I usually just end up jumping on my peloton. So I am happy I got out there today. Now, since I didn’t do the 6th mile I’ll stick to bourbon to cut back the carbs.

usually I’m able to power through. It’s the way I “self medicate” but the combination of my head issues, some professional shit and the shit going on right now gets difficult to overcome to get out. I still workout 6 days a week (peloton) but my running has suffered.

You all know this already but literally every day you get out there and run a damn mile, you've won. (We know what the alternative is.) And once you're out there it's all downhill because you've done the hardest part in starting in the first place. So we keep the expectations low, and just keep doing it.

I wasn't feeling great after the effort tn but it turned out I shaved literally 1 second off of my 7 miles lol. Officially on a every two days rotation now it seems.

Thanks to whoever said “improvement is NOT linear” earlier in the thread....

My times have slowly been improving the last few runs, 5 at a 9:30 pace, fingers crossed I’ll get back down to under 8:45 pace again.

But today was hot, humid, and my hips, back, sciatica were acting up...back up to a 10:30 pace today. “Improvement is NOT linear” kept echoing in my head.

Why do I run faster outdoors than on a treadmill?

On my mileage runs on a treadmill I set it at 5.8 mph and go for a jog.

When I run outdoors, at what feels like the same pace and output, I wind up between a 9 and 9:30 pace depending on the conditions.

To everyone who needs to hear this, dont go "full out" or even close on most of your runs. Do that maybe 1-2 a week, the rest of your runs should be at a conversational pace. Don't let ego get in the way.

Timely dose of my own medicine tn, after losing 45 seconds of my pace.

I am a complete BITCH when it comes to warm weather (fr I am certain that alone would result in me ending it all if I were somehow required to live in the south) and it was moderately (by sane non-bitch standards) warm today, and I felt dead by mile 4. Throttled way back and reset the goal to just keep at it for a full hour. Ended up finishing the now usual 7 because how could I stop after 6?

5.3 miles yesterday in the nice cool rain while ribs cooked

3.2 miles today in 95F humid heat on lunch break. took a while to recover from that and a nice cold shower.

These shorts are awesome, highly recommend. The speedpocket holds my iPhone6 nicely and kept it perfectly dry during yesterday's 5.3 mile run in constant rain, which surprised me:

Never really run long distance and I’ll preface by saying I’ve only ever been a sprinter when I ran track. So my long distance and everyone else’s is drastically different!

Got back into running early this year but think I overdid it. Went from not running at all (probably 7+ years) to 1-2 miles a day basically and haven’t run in a couple months.

Self diagnosing but believe I had issues with my peroneal tendon as I had bruising/swelling just below my ankle bone (outer edge) which caused me to stop.

Looking for running shoe recommendations. Typically will be running on concrete.Should I get fitted or is it likely I went from 0 running to too much daily?

I likely will never run more than 5-6 miles. But I want to get more consistent in running and get up to about 5-6 miles.
