^ afaik, Birx said nothing about wearing masks. To someone's DeSantis question, he removed all restrictions on youth sports in FL. https://www.wctv.tv/content/news/Go...s-on-summer-camps-youth-sports-570692861.html
That damn biased press that keeps asking questions about this silly fake virus and not the last president who hasn’t been in office in 3.5 years. Fake news!!
Watching the Korean baseball league and they were interviewing a guy from the US who plays over there. He said what we all know, but just how everything is normal over there sans masks, thermal sensors at certain places and getting your temp taken to go to the ballpark. Crazy what a competent government response would’ve done for this crisis!
On one hand they are clearly lying, on the other 45 is such a low number surely some investigative journalism would have proven that false by now?
They've also increased testing almost every day this week. It's fair to point out the correlation between more tests and more positive results whenever reporting an increase in positives. And that, from the story, the reason for one days big increase was a delay in reporting the positives (which I think is a common problem everywhere, I feel like these should be grouped based on the date the test was taken not the day the results were reported), and that half of those were from an outbreak in a prison. Arkansas is currently trending upwards in both hospitalizations and deaths, which is more accurate measure of what's going on independent of # of tests. It's interesting that they never really went on lockdown and the entire state is not infected and hospitals are not busting at the seams right now.
Not at all. He said (paraphrasing) “the data is against infection occurring via ventilation,” and I posted a bunch of reputable sources that are concerned about the possibility that also state there is not good data either way. If I misled him with my comment about about New Yorkers being stuffed into apartments like sardines, then that’s my bad, but i didn’t intend to, and never explicitly alleged, that I believe it’s the primary driver of NYC infections, or that there is data to support such a hypothesis. It was just a snarky response to his equally snarky and dismissive comment encouraging him to think of alternative explanations.
i'm proud of you. i feel like you're learning at lot here and really internalizing it. and give it time...
I ask because Arkansas drew praise for keeping their numbers relatively low despite very limited quarantine restrictions by using contact tracing as a means to contain outbreaks. Other states could attempt that as well, independent of the federal guidelines, right?
Thank you for the response and info. Yes they all have filters, but they don’t all have properly maintained or effective filters. Some of those links I posted talk about the ability of HEPA filters to block smaller viral particles. Another interesting observation they bring up is the role of humidity changes and potential for air conditioner units to evaporate otherwise short-lived droplets and keep viral particles in the air for long periods of time. The review from the American Society for Microbiology and comment in Environmental International also cite studies of (non-COVID) infections occurring through ventilation transmission vectors.
To be fair none of this is really new material for me. I always thought positives would increase as testing became more widespread. I always thought hospitalizations and deaths were a better way to measure progress. And I always thought headlines were meant to grab attention and get clicks, not provide a well-rounded assessment of the situation.
We didn't test and largely still aren't. It is very bad in our prisons and a couple of small churches got hammered I think we are testing 2,000 daily and are going to test most retirement homes in June. Pretty much all white collar are working from home. White males seem to be least likely to wear masks. Couple of weeks ago it wasn't like that and they bitched if they saw a minority not wearing a mask. I've been seeing assholes with a mask covering their mouth but not nose, mostly males for some reason.
The best approach would be to utilize all of these options. HEPA filters, UV light in the ducts, and UV light in each room with fans for circulation. This was, and still is a method of disinfecting patient rooms in areas where TB is prevalent. Most of our research is on TB, but it's assumed that C19 is the same.
I saw a couple women doing that at the grocery store last week and it baffled me. They weren’t wearing glasses either, so they couldn’t even complain that it was fogging up their lenses.
Looks like you are testing about 5,000 people per day, and increased recently. 8,400 tests on 5/19. Your testing numbers don't look that dissimilar from other states of similar size; Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah So white guys were wearing masks and complaining when black guys were not wearing them? But now white guys are not wearing them, and everyone else is? I've seen lots of people only covering their mouth. A fair distribution of men and women of every race.
So I could use an old android phone and download the app and change my location to some non-republican spot and they might waste advertising money there?
Took my buddy who doesn’t drive to the grocery store today. Was waiting for him out front in my car and this big fat luggy white man tried to walk in with no mask. He was denied and threw a fit. I laughed at him
If people didn't freely cross state lines, domestic flights were grounded, etc. etc. I'd be all for doing it at the state level. But yes, I do think all states are preparing to try some form of contact tracing. Would just be way more efficient at the national level.
SARS-CoV2 and TB are going to be pretty different, given one is a virus and other a bacteria. One an RNA genome and the other a DNA genome. So, not too safe to assume. That said, SARS-CoV2, I think, should be even easier to inactivate with UV light than TB.
I was going by Johns Hopkins as I had CNN up and didn’t feel like searching. Either way, Happy Memorial Day America!...
It’d be insane if this illness creates long term effects on young ppl and a whole generation of people raised by conservatives are afflicted.
there are a lot of examples where a virus can have long term effects on the nervous system and other issues. There are also people who have issues and no one can figure out why and it’s speculated in some cases that dormant virus can be to blame. It’s just too early to tell if this is something to worry about but don’t tell conservatives that. They will just say fake news.
I get DeSantis is having to play catch up here with New York taking the early commanding lead, but there's no man I trust more to take us to the top of the death heap.
Arkansas isn’t testing for shit. My MIL is had to drive over 2 hours to Mena to get tested and she lives in the most populous area in the state. You have to have symptoms to get tested. There’s a clinic in Mena that got a grant so they’re doing tests for non-symptomatic people.
