A little misleading. They have ICU beds but not in their dedicated Covid area. If they wanted to they could convert those ICU beds but Birmingham has plenty of dedicated Covid beds so they are shipping them up to Birmingham. Not great news but people aren’t dying in the hallways. There has been a definite spike in the number of hospitalizations which is concerning.
Yeah I saw an update on that from a friend whose husband works at one of the Montgomery area hospitals. That being said hopefully we don’t get a bad spike in cases with the partial reopening
Welp. https://www.alreporter.com/2020/05/...abama-increasing-faster-than-46-other-states/ Don't see any reason it won't be as bad or worse for this week. From what I've heard from people who went, Gulf Shores/Orange Beach was slammed this weekend.
Anyone know where someone can get tested (with symptoms but) without a physician referral? Ideally drive-through testing. Know someone who believes they need to be tested as soon as they can.
It sounds like they won’t bc the State AD publicly came out and basically said good luck enforcing it here
Does it really have to be enforced? If they say wear masks most people will which helps. If you go to Publix and are the only one not wearing one you will catch on. I’m not trying to lock people up and fine them but the more people wearing masks the better “we can’t enforce it” is much different than “its perfectly safe everyone don’t take precautions“
They won’t be able to take that thing down without someone that knows what they’re doing. They should focus on pulling the smaller shit down.
Asking for 24 hours to get the statue down legally. I wonder if he recalls tomorrow is a state holiday. Jefferson Davis' Birthday.
2nd Ave North got fucked up! Shu Shop got set on fire, as did Charm on 2nd. A young man busted out several gallery windows with a shovel as well. It was a really scary situation looking down helplessly until the police arrived and drove the crowd north and west. Queen’s Park employees stood in front of the bar to protect it. Ballsy af
I lived in the loft district until recently. Apparently our old building and Paper Doll next door (2300 block of 1ST North) were damaged.
I used to live in the same building. We were on the first floor where the street side wall is 75% windows. Would have been a scary situation.
Woodfin just announced a 7pm-6am curfew edit: advised that employers provide employees with some form of documentation that they work after 7pm
Sounds like Woodfin is just going to take the thing down and let Marshall and Ivey come at him. Not sure Marshall wants this fight.
That monument is coming down one way or another and the city of Hoover has hell to pay. We mean it when we say "No Justice, No Peace"
Seeing graffiti on the Library this morning struck me different for some reason, whole thing is terribly sad. I'm praying the confederate monument aspect doesn't draw the attention of outside groups. Charlottesville type situation is a nightmare scenario. Hopefully we get those things down quickly before things have a chance to escalate further.
