ND stopped recruiting Dixon, sounds like a lot of schools did after a not so great year last year i have a feeling Edwards recruitment is going to be nuts...won't believe anything in that recruitment till he officially signs the paperwork
Anyone got a hunch or insight into Ireland? I'm still booked with flight/accommodations. WIll probably go either way, but obv remaining hopeful.
As of today Ireland has a rule that stadium capacity is 5000 people. If I were guessing, I would say the game will be cancelled but they are waiting as long as they can to see if they change the ruling, which they won't.
My old man was on a season ticket holder zoom thing with Swarbrick and Powlus yesterday. Nothing was said outright but he got the distinct impression that Ireland was dead.
I thought sporting events were not included in that rule so it didn’t affect the Ireland game? That said, I really doubt that game happens
Wasn't he someone who committed during COVID without seeing the campus? I doubt we get him or that CB who is currently committed but was going to VT, or Shipley, etc. but I'm not really viewing most of these guys as "committed" until they sign if nobody is visiting schools, etc. right now.
Took me a while to get to this point, but these days I’m usually in favor of letting Kelly go. Michigan game and the shitty recruiting put me over the top.
I mean it seems weird to start complaining about recruiting in the middle of a pandemic, but what do I know?
i think everyone just needs to way to see what class we end up with before getting overly excited one way or the other this cycle this is probably going to be the strangest recruiting year we've ever seen ND is letting kids commit w/o having ever been on campus/kids are committing to lock up their spots/many kids are going to wait much longer to decide wanting to go on OVs we'll see what happens in Dec...in the end, all a commitment means is that we lead at that point in time
it’s definitely not very important right now and things will change so I am not panicking yet but like in any big changes in the world there will be winners and losers. The winners are the ones that will adapt and work harder, the losers are the ones that won’t change anything and hope it still works. Edit- I don’t know what notre dame is doing but so far the results are pretty bad, maybe it’s not the staffs fault
ND probably more than just about any other team was hurt negatively by the pandemic. They rely so much on the visits to show how different ND is than other schools (ND exceptionalism etc) not just to the recruits but also the parents. I forget exactly who wrote this article but there was one out a few years ago showing how high of a hit rate ND has on guys they officially offer once they get on campus. There is next to no local base to rely on and their big recruiting weekend was literally the week that the NCAA cancelled all visits. That being said, there is no way Kelly was landing a top 5 class no matter what anyway because the only year he did they went 12-0 and had a top 3 player in the country that was tailor made for ND.
Yeah it has to be them. They have only been fbs for like 20 years. Unless we beat them some time in the early 2000s that I can’t remember.
so there are 8 of em. Oregon State, Tulsa, Chicago, Uconn, georgia and USF were mentioned. 2 more left, but they are hella old. One of em is a D3 school and the other one a FCS currently
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/notre-dame/head-to-head.html lost 3 to uga, 2 to osu, 1 to usf, uconn, tulsa, chicago U, knox and yale
but football played between 15 player rosters of 200 pound 5'7 white guys playing both ways is still football
so here is to hoping they just say the stadium is for students this year and all students are welcome, just no old farts edit: wont happen, i know
damn right! but really, it will be very interesting to see what they do with this season. going to be a strange one whatever way they go.
