Between two of my friends and I, we've hit 3 target, 4 meijer, and 3 walmart in metro detroit today and are 0/10 on any NBA or Bowman cards. Meijer carries both for sure, but just empty display boxes in all
Just got word my Trout project 2020 Baller edition shipped, I'll snap a pic when it shows up so you can see the 1 of 1 Gold Edition.
Yeah every place I check they look like they haven't been stocked in weeks, same cards are there every time and the display cases are just sitting empty. I don't even need that many just would like to rip a few boxes of Bowman and a few more of Mosaic.
All in all it was a very good box of Bowman Witt chrome auto Witt chrome x2 Witt 1990 insert refractor Dominguez chrome Puason chrome and paper Skubal chrome Basically all the paper guys minus Jasson. Sold Jasson for $55 Sold 1 Witt chrome and Pusason for $28 Sold a group of 4 paper RC’s for 12 Plan is to send Witt auto in to grade. Got one box already that I got for $275 and after some flipping today I think I’m going to try and get a 3rd since I got some $
I was digging around upstairs and came across a case of 1990 All-Star Voting Ballots. I don't know how or why I have these but I was clearly planning something nefarious.
I ended up getting 6 blaster packs off eBay yesterday for 180. The guy had them originally for 190 and they were only listed for like 5 minutes, I was happy since that’s the cheapest I saw all day per box.
Apparently I collect pucks now. There's some really cool pucks of defunct teams out there, as well as some weird ones.
I feel bad for the people who bought Dominguez early (not really because they are nuts for paying those prices) but the market is slowly correcting itself on him Prices for his /99 Green Auto on ebay Sold 5/18 $16.1k Sold 5/21 $7.1k Sold 5/24 $3.4k
Good catch, yea I know some people with multiple of same item or have an item first on ebay do fake auctions to set price high when people looking up value in order to get higher value when they actually sell it.
It could be that people were bidding it up with burner accounts just to see how high they could get it. Or the seller was shilling bids. Which brings up another eBay no-no - never accept a Second Chance Offer from a seller. It might not always be the case but I've always suspected they've had a friend/burner account bid their auction up, accidentally win it, and then offer it to you at your max bid.
Ebay doesn't let you offer it to the second highest bidder, only the third highest. This came up recently when some dbag used some canned excuse on why he couldn't pay for the auction he won. I went to do the Second Chance Offer and it only lets you offer it to high bidder #3.
This one? I’ve seen ads for these but never pulled the trigger on any. I haven’t collected in a while, so what’s the back story on these?
Yep. So I’ll try to keep it short. Topps got 20 different artists from various styles/backgrounds to recreate 20 all time cards. Each weekday 2 cards are sold on topps.com, and after 48 hours they’re gone forever. Whatever the number ordered in the 48 hours is, is all that is printed. First couple dozen cards had very low print runs, so value is huge right bow. Art buyers are getting involved now along with all the hobby buyers. Last week Jamieson dropped his McGwire, and 18,205 bought. Last night eBay had their first $100 sales of that card. It’s a fun thing to follow, and chance to make some good money depending on the card. I’m under the impression that every Trout and Griffey should be purchased
Also every card has 20 artists proofs that get bought by the bots in seconds. And each card has a 1/1 with a gold trim.
Not to be a wet blanket, but the cost for Bowman is insane this year. You did about as good as you could do, and aren'' gonna make a lot more than your box cost. Again, not throwing shade at all, I just can't get my head around the prices for boxes this year.
Cool. I’d probably grab a few of the Trouts, Ryan’s and other guys I liked. The early runs sort of remind me of the early runs of the eTopps. Tony Banks card was worth a bunch at one point, I wonder if that’s still the case.
That’s basically my course of action. I’ll buy all Griffey and Brett cards, probably all of Jamieson’s going forward as well. Beyond that I’ll be picking and choosing ones to flip as the market is too crazy to not.
Yea it just depends on the artist/card/market. I really hope this Griffey sticks close to 20k. Also, Trout and Ben Baller cards will always sell huge #s
So far I have bought 1 Ben Baller Mike Trout from Topps, 5 Fucci Mike Trouts from Topps, 3 Ermsy Ted Williams from Ebay for around $40 a piece, and 5 Jamieson Mark McGwires from Topps......
I bought only 1 Trout Baller, wishing I would have bought 100 of those damn things, I see they are selling anywhere from 80-150. Could have made a easy 5 Grand
I hear ya, like todays Griffey looks like a 5th grader did it. I bought the Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays set a few days ago.
I don’t have an exact number, but I imagine they’ll be 100+ in a few weeks based on how other cards have gone. Like I said the McGwire from last week is already over $100
I'm being told there are cards on facebook, is this true? Are there a lot of cards? Can one search for individual cards or is it a giant shitshow of a garage sale? I'm so desperate to complete some of these sets I might even be willing to sign up for a fecalbook account.
I grabbed two bundles, the way the prices of these are going up will hold on to them and see if I can flip them and make a few bucks.
assuming we are talking baseball? Also, if i wanted to buy a couple under $100/each that does not have all the cards but same odds at the autos/inserts what should I buy? I have not been in the card game for years other than the occassional walmart/targer retail purchase
