Daytona was the best album from the Wyoming project. I know people love KSG but I really just can’t get into it
I think that's most people's take. Definitely mine. But I'm not a fan of either of those guys. Hot take I know. Kanye never did it for me, even the pre Mom stuff.
I’m a big fan of MOM but since then Cudi has seemed like a novelty act. Kanye is Kanye but he’s been hard for me to stomach since MBDTF.
Listened to Wunna on the lake yesterday afternoon. Its alright. Couple decent tracks but i cant take too much mumble rap this album is doing numbers tho Also that new Flex track by polo g goes
We are about the same age. Did you also have a boombox with a cassette recorder, listening to a radio station just waiting for that one song that you couldn't get out of your head, and hoping you caught it fast enough to record it to cassette?
yes !!! Or taking advantage of the wherehouse 30 day return policy where I would return a new tape or cd everyday to record.....I would close my eyes and just pick out a random hip hop tape or cd if it was good record it and bring back the next day for another one
Absolutely. As a matter of fact my aunt lived with us while she was in HS and I was in elementary. I didn’t have any blanks and robbed her of her poison tape and dubbed over it. She was livid and still brings that shit up.
Here’s one. what was y’alls first tape? My aunt took me to Camelot for my tenth birthday and I bought Cooleyhighharmoney and Das Efx dead serious. had to hide them from the folks haha
an unnamed beat junkies mix when i was 10 it steered me down a path i’ve been on since and goddamnit i thank j rocc every chance i get
both are great but their chemistry and the fit is better on Bandana. Agree it sounds more like a project produced for Gibbs exclusively than him just jumping on Madlib beats. Gibbs has also really hit his stride in the last year or so. Bandana grabbed me first listen and is my favorite hip-hop record in a while
Cool Twitter follow here even though the account tends to focus in on one artist at a time. btw, DUCKWORTH is my favorite K-Dot song and one of my favorite songs oat
I love that Ostavi Trag sample so fucking much. https://jwp.io/s/AC843lzV https://www.npr.org/2020/04/07/828115972/kendrick-lamar-thinks-like-a-jazz-musician

I enjoy RTJ quite a lot. Been a Killer Mike fan for decades and even though I didn’t know much about EL-P before RTJ (and honestly I still don’t) I’ve become a big fan of his as well. That being said after hearing Ooh La La below is exactly what I was hoping for with RTJ4 my excitement grows
Huge fan. They really elevate each other. Mike is a better rapper with El-P. And you can hear EL-P get better himself with each album they've released(nowhere close to Mike though). Heard an interview on Shade the other day and it's a genuine friendship. They really work each other to make good music. Always looking to get better. I'm stoked for 4.
If I were to start listening to him, where would I start? I’ve been a big fan of his wrt features but I’ve never dove into his catalog. He’s got a few albums so I was just wondering what’s his good shit if any
Gotcha, I can't answer that too greatly. The only album of his I really got and listened to was Mr Wonderful and it was solid. Probably 3-4 songs I have no issue listening to if it comes on
The first Blue Chips is his best project and one of my favorite mixtapes from that era. Still play that quite a bit. The loose Party Supplies production is his best medium to me. Blue Chips 2, Rare Chandeliers (with Alchemist) and Dr. Lecter (his debut) are also very good.
Blue Chips 1 and 2. Havent enjoyed his album work as much as his mixtape work. Mr. Wonderful is probably his best album. He has gotten a little bit more experimental with his latest releases
Tyler the Creator is on pretty big feature heater as of late. On the new Freddie Gibbs album and Lil Yachty album as well. He's been in everything lately
Alchemist in general is such a master at getting the best out of a rapper. Freddie murders this album. He’s absolutely ridiculous
Boldy Denzel/Kennybeats Conway twice Royce WSG Gibbs Add what’s likely to be a dope album from RTJ and what a great first half to 2020. That’s me not even mentioning Circles (my personal AOTY but it’s hard to lump it in the rap/hip hop space) and what I guess is a great future album (couldn’t be me). The world may be spiraling into oblivion but we’re getting dope music.
