Been doing a “put it on in the background” rewatch. Still love the early seasons. Still don’t hate the last two. Tormund in S7-8 is gold
Season 8 episode 3 is my headcanon end of the series, in my mind they ran out of budget to finish the rest and we're stuck on a cliffhanger for the Jon/Aegon and Cersei storyline.
I haven’t tried yet because it’s still too fresh but I want to believe I can go back and enjoy titties and plot from the earlier stuff
If you stop watching after season four, you're gold. Even if you power through season five, there are some really good bits from season six. For the love of the gods stop there, though.
You guys are the same type that go to a restaurant for years and then one time get some bad service or food and never go back. Grow up
if HBO is showing it, I can see myself popping in and out of episodes I enjoy, but there are too many good options out there to waste my time doing a rewatch of this.
Nah season 8 ruined it. I can't enjoy the show period. There's a reason why all the spinoffs are dead. All they had to do was land the plane, and hbo was gonna give them the biggest tv payday in recorded history, and they fucked up so badly that it totally destroyed the entire project. Amazing.
I may try to watch up through 8.2 because that was an excellent episode. Then just pretend that the Night King won
The spinoffs aren’t dead. The long night one was stupid to attempt but the Targ history one is definitely going through
You could do a life of Tywin leading up to where Game of Thrones begins which would be interesting but there is no where near to having enough material to cover that. 80% of that season would be just a trench being dug
Pretty wild not one thread on this board was bumped about the one year anniversary of the finale. What an appalling failure that season was
Still randomly think about that guy's "Dany kind of forgot about the iron fleet" quote Unreal how badly they fucked up
I wonder if HBO is still working on spin offs. There doesn't seem to be much interest in one after the finale.
Really incredible how those two fucksticks completely tanked the entire Game Of Thrones brand in a matter of eight episodes. I have zero interest in ever watching this show again, and even less interest in any spinoffs. Fuck those guys, fuck GRRM, and fuck HBO for letting it happen
I do wonder if sales of the books (that we're never going to get) would be way down compared to what they would have been if these guys competently ended this series.
This. How could a show going into battle of the bastards be on such a high note and be completely destroyed in a matter of a lackluster 7th season (which still have an opportunity to be reconciled) turn into such a terrible culmination of an ending for an 8th season. Its a complete mindfuck.
There's no question they killed any lingering interest in the show. As others have said, we should be in the middle of a quarantine-induced rewatch of the whole series, but instead they so thoroughly botched the ending, they took the most popular show on television and kicked it right out of the collective consciousness. No one talks about GOT anymore, except to lament its ending. It's no longer pop culture. Add in the fact that these last few seasons (the worst in the show) were the only post-ADWD material we had and yeah, I can see how the ruined ending might kill interest in the future books. Not that we'll ever get to read a written ending.
There are always going to be small minded people who like shit just because it's on TV and who don't think about things any deeper than "dragons go boom, yeah!" Those are the people studios are always courting, to the frustration of the fans who actually care.
HBO was one of the few that gave their creators a lot of creative control. I’m sure their new Warner overlords will point to the complete clusterfuck of the GoT ending as a reason to rein in that level of freedom. They pretty much killed the franchise and prob cost HBO millions in future spinoffs. Hope their Civil War fan fiction show ends up as shitty as it sounds.
