might be a weird place to post this question... but me and a couple friends want to take our kids to see the launch tomorrow. I know a lot of official places are closed due to the virus but does anyone know where we could watch from? Current plan is to check the weather at 1130 and leave from Ft Myers if it looks like the launch is a go.
Apparently Tom Cruise is going to the ISS for a movie https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/27/entertainment/doug-liman-tom-cruise-space-trnd/index.html
Launches are such an exciting thing for me. Add in some astronauts launching from US soil and it has me like
What if they load it with fuel then have to postpone? Do they then have to empty the rocket, then refuel Saturday?
Sounds like they are going to scrub, waiting another 2 min to see if weather clears before final decision
Yep, they’re firing one bullet trying to hit another moving bullet. Even only a couple minutes late means the space station is going to be hundreds of miles away from where the capsule will end up
What was up with that weather officer floating the possibility of postponing T0 and confusing the astronauts? Was he just making a joke over comms?
Has to be pretty disheartening to the astronauts to get 17 minutes from launch, for it to be scrubbed. One plus side is they get a few more days with their family, but then they have to go through the goodbyes again. Also wonder if astronauts second guess themselves once there's a scrubbing. Like it's not meant to be, maybe I shouldn't do this... Will definitely set an alarm to watch this again on Saturday.
He was basically saying that if they had an extra 10 minutes in the launch window that the weather would clear up.
Just seems like the kind of extraneous information you’d be trained to not put out over comms to avoid confusion.
